Summary

Pool finally gets it’s debut on Nintendo 64 as Virtual Pool 64 arrives. In the artificial world of Pool, you can now play a realistic simulation in an instant. No more ball collecting or chalking, this is user-friendly pool.

In Virtual Pool, you get to take on the role of the cue, as there are no people. Here, Nintendo’s analogue stick is put to full use for the first time in a Pool title. This brand new method of cue control involves the player thrusting the analogue stick forwards in order to hit the cue ball. How hard the ball is hit depends on how quickly the stick is thrust forward. Clever, huh? Once you get to grips with this, it’s time to start potting some balls.

The ball physics here are quite accurate, balls that are hit hard, move fast, and slow down with realism. It’s this realism that allows players to incorporate their own strategy, as the cue ball can be positioned to suit your own taste.

You have a variety of table tables to choose from. Once chosen, you are given the option to manipulate pocket sizes, table surfaces and colours. You can choose from American Pool, or British Pool. With all these features combined, Virtual Pool makes for a decent pool simulator.
