Summary

Streetfighter Three Double Impact is the latest release from Capcom to feature only their own characters. The disk is essentially two arcade games: Streetfighter III: New Generation and Streetfighter III: 2nd Impact. In the trademark style Capcom have employed since Streetfighter Zero/Alpha, the game-play is very much combo and super orientated. Innovations on this theme include parrying, and Super Art fighting styles. Parrying involves tapping the joystick into the direction of the attack to launch your fighter into an advantageous position. This can also be performed while crouching by tapping toward your opponent for an upper attack or down for a lower attack. Also included are EX special moves, performed by pressing two action buttons while inputting the directional command for a standard special move resulting in a more powerful version of that move.

The fighters Capcom have lined up this time are Ken and Ryu (of course!) Alex, Yun, Sean, Yang, Ibuki, Elena, Urien, Oro, Necro, Dudley and Hugo from Capcom’s classic Final Fight.

Visually the game is a delight with fluid, though not interactive backgrounds and character animation running at a blistering sixty frames per second. If you, like us, cannot get enough of 2D beat-em-ups, you need look no further than this.
