Summary

As a typically American sport, basketball isn’t as popular over on British territories as on Western shores. Although basketball does have a presence over here, there is nothing that can compare to America’s NBA league; the best in the world. Thanks to Electronic Arts’ decision to bring NBA Live 2001 on PlayStation over here, foreign fans of the sport will be able to participate in their own fictional league.

Improving on previous instalments, NBA 2001 will feel more polished and developed than ever before. New for NBA 2001, each and every player of the NBA is given set personalities and emotions that reflect their real-life counterparts. You will be able to see how your players react to pressure in a match. Adding to the realism of the sport, there is now speech and an increased number of complex animations. These improvements allow for more fluid gameplay, and with moves like Drop Steps and Baby Hooks, Live 2001 never played better. As well as being able to participate in tournaments, ono-to-one battles, and against each other, the game’s progression means that, by earning points, you can unlock hidden features in the game. Increased player ratings, hair styles and shoes can be revealed if you are skilled and patient enough.

As one of many, many EA Sports games, NBA Live 2001 should prove to be very successful, providing it can reach the targeted minority audience.
