Summary

StarLancer combines the intense action of first-person space combat with the drama and intrigue of a classic World War II air combat movie. Set hundreds of years in the future, countries from around the world including the United States, Russia and Great Britain have formed strategic alliances and now battle for control of Earth, Venus and other planets across the solar system. Players enlist with the Western Alliance and join a newly formed, ragtag aviation unit, the 45th Volunteers Squadron, where they must prove themselves to earn the respect of their peers.

StarLancer is developed by Erin and Chris Roberts, a duo widely credited as the inventors of the space combat genre with their tremendously popular “Wing Commander” and “Privateer” series of PC games. With such a reputation, you would expect StarLancer to be one of the strongest titles within the genre, and this is the case. Presented with stunning 3D visuals, the realism is so accurate that this space based title will have you blinking twice. Game play is highly complicated, with more that half the keys on the keyboard being allocated to one control. You will need to spend quite some time getting to grips with the forty-something keys that need to be used for success.

StarLancer has a great deal of depth and stunning visuals, but you’ll need a few hours to spare should you want take advantage of these features.
