Summary

Pod is a futuristic racing game set on a different planet where you race around bizarre looking tracks at breakneck speeds. Pod was originally released in 1998 and was extremely successful on the PC. Fans of the series will be pleased to know that the sequel is finally upon us and is available for the Sega Dreamcast.

On a distant planet in a galaxy far, far away, a deadly virus called Pod has broken loose and is infecting the inhabitants. There can only be one solution, evacuation. The pod virus mutates organic and inorganic material in an attempt to spread itself. Being a labourer, racing is your only chance to win freedom and survival. The pressure is on, do you have what it takes? The disease idea has interesting implications on the gameplay of Pod 2. Throughout the game your car mutates and evolves and develops new features and abilities. The tracks and other cars are also suffering the effects of the Pod virus and are subjected to strange mutations as well.

Different paths and shortcuts are available in Pod 2, allowing you to find a multitude of different racing lines. Experimentation will be required to find the quickest and most efficient route to the finish line. The graphics look outstanding, futuristic and stylish. The frame rate is also very smooth and only very occasionally drops below 60fps. The Dreamcast is powerful enough to render detailed and rich environments. The cars are also fitted with weapons, handy if someone cuts you up

Pod 2 is a great racing game, check it out.
