One of Nintendo’s biggest stars is Link, the hero from the Legend of Zelda series of games. Ever since the days of the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System, Link has been saving the land of Hyrule from the evil Gannon. Link’s Awakening DX was one of the best-selling and most highly acclaimed Game Boy Color titles. The Oracle of Ages is one half of the two new Zelda games to released and it simply can’t be missed.

In this game players must help Link find the Harp of Ages, a magical musical instrument that allows time travel. The evil Sorceress of Shadows, Veran has captured Nayru, the Oracle of Ages. It is up to you to defeat this Sorceress and bring peace to the land once again.

If you have played any of the previous Zelda games you will recognise the style of gameplay. Players must travel the map, searching for characters to interact with, puzzles to solve, and enemies to defeat. The time travelling element in Oracle of Ages adds an exciting depth to the puzzles in the game. You must complete certain objectives in different times to solve some tricky puzzles.

Even though the main quest in Oracle of Ages is completely different to Oracle of Seasons, the two games are still related. When you beat one game you are given a password that will work on the other title. If you enter this password before you start your other quest, you will start with more health and items and characters from the first game will make cameo appearances. New events will also be unlocked and a special boss battle occurs at the end of the second game. You can play the games in whatever order you choose.

Oracle of Ages is one of the better action, role-playing games available, especially on a portable platform. With a great story, and challenging gameplay, Oracle of Ages is unmissable.
