It is April 2000. There is a new title available on the PlayStation. It involves an imposing haunted house, filled with dozens of monsters, ghosts and spooks just daring you to enter its dusty, gloomy corridors. All that you have in your defence are your wits, your reflexes, and your gun. Sound familiar? No, its not another variation in the seemingly inexhaustible Resident Evil series, its Ghoul Panic.
From the people behind the Point Blank titles, Ghoul Panic gives you the chance to pick up the gun and blast these cat-torturing creeps away. In common with the Point Blank titles, there are dozens of play modes and options, all colourful and action-packed, and so very addictive. Luckily, theres an eight player option in Ghoul Panic, so everyone can have a go, tooled up or not. Using a gun is, of course, the recommended way to play, but just as much enjoyment can be derived from this title by using a mouse or analogue controller.
Ghoul Panic is the ideal pre-teen, first-person shooter, with no blood, skull-cracking or rotting flesh, just clean innocent fun. Well, the kids have to start somewhere, dont they? If you enjoyed Point Blank and Point Blank 2, then Ghoul Panic will certainly satiate your desire for a rootin - tootin shoot em up.
