Summary

Newman Haas is the bonafide All-American racing experience. Unlike the plethora of Formula One games on the market, this title brings, for the Europeans amongst us, a selection of less familiar tracks and drivers. This doesn’t detract from the action though, not one little bit.

This all-action title features sixteen licensed drivers (the names Andretti and Fittipaldi should be familiar to even the most casual onlooker), and eleven real-life tracks, from Milwaukee to Oregon. There are also four fantasy tracks to tackle, the sole concession to authentic Indy racing, because, even if you think you’ve seen it all as far as racing games are concerned, this title ranks with the best. The collisions are realistic and send car parts flying across the track, and can seriously affect your performance. The sense of speed is right there in your face, especially when using the view from the cockpit. Another neat touch is when you pull into the pits, and you actually get to see the pit crew working on your car. Motion-captured too, which is nice. Newman Haas Racing is definitely worth taking for a spin, only the most discerning race fan will find something to complain about.
