Summary

Rage, in recent years, has earned itself a reputation for mixing lovely graphics rendering with some great gameplay. Living up to expectations, the company has now developed the real-time strategy game, Hostile Waters, for their preferred gaming platform, the PC. As the latest development to come out of the software house, Hostile Waters promises to be amazing, at least technologically.

After a beautifully rendered introduction, you will soon find yourself embarking upon a mission of salvage, mystery and war, set in the distant year of 2032. Before you can challenge some of the game’s real battles you will first have to undergo a number of salvage operations, whereby you will gain the capability to use your resources for offensive means. Because of the complexity and vast range of controls, most of your primary missions will have an in-game tutorial incorporated into them. Interestingly, Hostile Waters covers a variety of combat genres, since there are as many as ten types of machinery to control that are available across all land, sea and air environments. Many of these machines must be used simultaneously in the game missions. Some craft even feature stealth capability and night vision. There are twenty missions available to participate in, and while this figure may seem a little on the small side, you can rest assured that the longevity of this game is by no means short lived.

As a complete game it’s challenging, compelling, and has a superbly written script. It’s fun-to-play and highly addictive. Hostile Waters remains another valuable asset in Rage’s portfolio.
