Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman - PlayStation

Rising Zan: The Samurai Gunman on the PlayStation is a wonderfully original title. You start the game as a cowboy called Johnny who journeys to the Far East to learn a new fighting style. Johnny successfully manages to incorporate the deadly art of the samurai with his gun-touting prowess.

The gameplay in Rising Zan is polished and as a result makes the game a pleasure to play. There are many techniques for you to learn and master. Not only can you perform deadly combos with your sword but you can also pull off spectacular special moves that can hit multiple enemies at once. These moves are important because you are often attacked by several baddies simultaneously. Learning the art of dodging, blocking and parrying will also be advantageous depending on the situation. Because your attacks are so varied, the possibilities of attacks is staggering. It’s nice to slash an enemy several times and then finish them off with a shot to the head.

The actual plot and locations of Rising Zan leaves a little to be desired, but that doesn’t really matter because this is a fun adventure, beat-em-up. There is a good training mode that teaches you the basics so when you come to play the game you’ll know most of the techniques.

Rising Zan features over 10 levels of action packed gameplay, loads of puzzles and plenty of sub games. Are you sexy and deadly enough?
