Summary

Get ready for the greatest, most realistic, Mortal Kombat so far. The extremely violent beat-em-up makes it’s debut on the Sega Dreamcast with Mortal Kombat Gold. Presented in high resolution 3-d, Mortal Kombat has never looked so good. The backgrounds are artistic, animated and set the stage perfectly. The music and commentary is dark and foreboding, creating an ominous mood. In MKG it’s your job to defend the Earth from the Evil Shinnok and his minions. Mortal Kombat Gold has 20 characters to pick from. You can choose from old favourites such as Sub-Zero, Kitana and Johnny Cage or how about someone new, like Quan Chi. Being a Mortal Kombat game you can rest assured there are plenty of secret characters to find and unlock. Even though MKG is in 3-d, the gameplay is still leaning towards 2-d. It is possible to side-step and interact with the scenery but MKG has a more traditional feeling which is not a bad thing. The combos you know and love are still in here plus new attacks to learn and master. More additions to this version include the weapon select screen and new Dreamcast only surprises. With plenty of characters, secrets, options, 2-on-2 battles, weapons and tongue-in-cheek violence, Mortal Kombat Gold is Sweet. Warning: do not try fatalities at home.
