Summary

For a long time the Amiga suffered at the hands of Atari ST ports; games rapidly converted thanks to the machines sharing the same processor. Usually these were blatant cash-ins, not even tweaked to utilise the Amiga's superior graphics and sound capabilities.
With the Amiga overtaking the ST in popularity, the tables were bound to turn.
Shadow to the Beast is a perfect demonstration of this change. With so many colours and sound channels, it's hard to see how anyone could manage to emulate such prowess on the ST.
All credit to the developers, as the ST version boasts the same huge, lush graphics, parallax scrolling and variety of level of the original, the only discernable difference being the use of fewer colours and musical scores.
Unfortunately, it also suffers from the same poor gameplay, level design faults and incredible difficulty.
