Summary

Scrabble is a traditional board game that challenges the player’s vocabulary and requires creative strategy in order to be successful. In case you don’t know, the object of Scrabble is to make words out of the seven letters that you have available to you. Letters have different points values depending on their difficulty. For example ‘X’ and ‘Q’ are worth 10 points because it’s tricky to fit them into words while vowels are usually worth a point each. On the Scrabble board certain squares are bonus multipliers. You can either use a double or triple, letter or word bonus to increase the amount of points that you receive for a word. The person with the most points at the end of the game wins, gloating is optional.

There are a few special rules that can drastically change the way in which the game is played. If you manage to use all of your letters in one go you score a 50 point bonus. Any letters that you are unable to use at the end of the game work against you. The other players benefit from these lost points. The PC version of this great game has several new features to make the playing experience even better. The first improvement has to be the single player game. The computer has a selectable difficulty setting and a variable vocabulary so you can customise the style of your new opponent.

There is also a dictionary feature that you can test the validity of your suggestions before losing your turn. One of the best features of Scrabble is the ability to check if any seven or eight letter words can be made from your current selection of letters. If you are stuck for a word to use, then it’s possible to ask the computer for a suggestion. All of the words you have available and where you can use them are shown. Scrabble is a challenging and fun game for up to four players. There is a very good chance that this game can help your word list, er, vocabulary.
