Summary

GameBoy games aren’t renowned for their graphical capabilities, and you would be right to argue with anyone that said otherwise. However, gameplay has always been the strong point of the GameBoy, and this piece of hardware is a prime example of what games should be all about. One of the many, many games to be released on this 8-bit black and white handheld is F1 Race. It seems the technical limitations don’t always hinder developers ideas about realising a game, and F1 Race shows how addictive a game can be, regardless of its graphical downfalls.

As a 2D scrolling racing game, there are a surprising amount of varied tracks from across the world that is Formula One. Tracks include the likes of Australia and Japan, some of which are actually quite faithful to real-life versions. There are two unsurprising modes of play to choose from; time trial and grand prix. After choosing a car to drive with, the rest is pretty much self-explanatory. Vrrooom!
