Summary

BC's Quest For Tires is inspired by the popular comic-strip by Johnny Hart - the World's most syndicated comic strip writer whos output appears in in over 1000 newspapers worldwide. Hart created BC in 1958, after a tour of duty in Korea, he made the leap to computers with both BC's Quest For Tires and Grog's Revenge.

BC's Quest is a side-on scrolling 2D platformer. You play as the eponymous BC, who is a caveman - hence the name - geddt? BC is searching for his damsel in distress, who has been captured by the evil villain Grog.

BC scoots along a pot-hole strewn pre-historic terrain on a primitive unicycle, the wheel of which is made of stone - which fractures of BC hits any of the rocks or potholes that litter the vicinity.
The main obstacles in the game are: boulders which either fall from above, or roll along the play-field. To avoid them, you can either jump or dodge. There terrain also features trees, the branches of which you must duck under, and rocks and pot-holes that you must jump over.

To avoid BC getting thrown from his ride, you must jump and duck to avoid these obstacles. The basis of the game is somewhat repetitive; although the two gameplay components, mixed with relatively easy difficulty level and a variety of levels conspire to create a fun long-lasting experience.

Periodically the game presents a more complex obstacle to be overcome, such as a river which BC must cross on the backs of creatures which repeatedly surface and submerge. If that wasn't difficult enough, a nearby caveman attempts to hit BC over the head with his club. As always with these kind of games, success is really just an matter of getting the timing right.
