SPOnG: Gears of war on PC?
Cliffy B: There are rumblings.
SPOnG: Possible? Probable?
Cliffy B: It would be a very cool and exciting platform to see this kind of game on. So, you get a big fat maybe.
SPOnG: I've been told from a few reliable people that they actually have some copies floating around that are playable on PC.
Cliffy B: A friend of a friend... who you know.
SPOnG: A friend who has it on his laptop right now.
Cliffy B: Well, he also has Jimmy Hoffa's corpse right?
SPOnG: Possible... possible... You recently said that you’re a big fan of the grindhouse type of film.
Cliffy B: Yeah!
SPOnG: Any thoughts on ever making a ridiculous, over the top, that kind of stylised game?
Cliffy B: What I am going to be working on for the next few years is probably already laid out, but that would be something that would really excite me to do. Something that's very pulpy like that, with that kind of crazy over the top design and aesthetic. You know every trailer I see for that movie (Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez's upcoming feature
Grindhouse) gets me progressively more excited. It’s just awesome.
SPOnG: So far for the show (GDC) anything really caught you off guard, surprised you? Anything really stand out?
Cliffy B: The guys next door have this
mind control stuff where you basically um...
*puzzled look*
Cliffy B: Oh, I shit you not! You basically put this device on your head, then they tell you to think ‘Push’, or ‘Lift’, and they tell you to think ‘Turn’. Then they calibrate which part of your brain lights up, and once they know which part of your brain lights up, you play a game - in which you think these various things and use your brain to control the game. I’m dead fucking serious.
SPOnG: Because I know people have been working on this sort of thing for years...
Cliffy B: I got to try it last year and this year they made the technology even better. Its pretty cool stuff and that's really the next generation of where things are going with game controls.
SPOnG: Nice.
Cliffy B: All the cool stuff totally sounds like Sci-Fi right?
SPOnG: Indeed. What do you think about Shadowrun, with the whole cross platform thing?
Cliffy B: Oh, yeah, cool stuff.
SPOnG: Do you think that will pan out?
Cliffy B: I think it’s going to work swimmingly for them, but I also think they had to do a lot of custom work so the comparability and balancing was ironed out between PC and 360. So, it’s exciting stuff and I’m glad to see it. I'm definitely looking forward to playing that on my 360 and hopefully not getting my ass kicked by PC gamers.
