No, I will not be apologizing, as I was right: Spong had no exclusive. And as was said in the GAF thread, the "exclusive" was based on other information that was released in the past day or two.

You people do know what "exclusive" means, right?

Exclusive means they can make things up and if it comes true they can say they had it first.

But hell, what do you expect from a site that bitched about Jack Thompson for quite some time, then interviews him and panders to his insanity and then posts a news report about how much they support Thompson? But now, you look and the article was dropped from the page long JT brown nosing to a single paragraph followed by a mention of the Penny-Arcade scandal.

They edited out what people didn't like about that piece. It's not a stretch to see that when they make up an exclusive that doesn't turn out to be true or turns out to be different, that edit button can be reached so easily.

I'm glad to hear this news about the Revo, the sooner it gets to us the better. That price tag is a little steep though. I reckon Nintendo are more likely to price the Revo about the same price the GC launched at.

Yeah, I'd say about £130-150 is more likely, then the GC will be PSone style budget option (like it is now) before it gets phased out altogether with the Revo taking over, while still offering GC games and Revo games.

I still have to get a 360 but the launch line up isn't grabbing my by the throat and saying buy me, though it's better than MS last effort.

As for the hilarious comments of Agent Zeo, I really don't know why he/she/it likes to come to Spong and discredit them when they get a scoop before anyone else. Even in the greatest fields of journalism, sometimes even smaller fish get a big scoop. There's a lot of gaming news out there to be reported on.

I have had the privilege of being here when Spong had other scoops too, like when Spong got the Xbox 360 name scoop right before rivals, when others were still calling it Xenon. This latest Revo news is proof that Spong get their share sometimes (no matter what others say elsewhere).

Give Spong a break and a little credit where it's due.

Invasion of the kiddies on SPOnG; handbags at dawn!

Seems pretty reasonable to think that Nintendo are planning a worldwide lanch within a window at which SPOnG's approximate date is at the centre.

Well done guys, you broke it before everyone else.

NB I still won't be getting a 360 or a PS3. Good graphics, stale games. Look forward to the Revolution.

Pure fantasy.
Read the end of today's piece.

EDIT: Zeo. You say that GAF is has editors from here and there all using the site etc... You're GAF user and poster as you have mentioned.

This post made me chuckle in two random ways:

1) When reading it, for some bizzare reason, I imagined your voice sounding like C-3P0. A sort of camp, spoilt, brat (possibly with raised handbag/purse)

2) You end with ",right?"; suggesting you're not sure, and in need of someone acceptance or reassurance.

That is all.

Hmmm, we have typically always got things at dollar for pound. So if it costs $200 over there, we typically get it for £200. Obviously how much "more" that is depends on the exchange rate.

Usually the dollar and the euro are about 1.5 (ish) to the pound, so £200 is (usually) €300. So you'd expect a $200 to be $300.

Hence the DS bundle being 149 ($ and €), DS being 129 and launching at 149 ($ and €) Micro being 99 ($ and €) GCN being 99 and launching at 199 ($ and €)...

yeah, yeah, i see your point. You don't miss a thing do you Doc :)

If you look at it though. June does seem to be the best time to launch a new console, especially if you put on a good show at E3. If you can build up some excitement over something new and show enough new software, and enough FINISHED software, then releasing as soon as poss after E3 makes perfect sense rahter than letting the hype you just built up fade away.

No actually, that isn't what I suggested. Don't be stupid.

Haha, very mature. I guess this is the part where you try and pretend like my age, sex, and location matter.

And that couldn't have been a more insane thing to say, as people in America, Europe, and Japan, from teens to their thirties post there.

Grow up.

Well of course we SPOnG monkeys don't, but happily the Internet does.

I call your attention to the noun definitions.

n.
1. A news item initially released to only one publication or broadcaster.
2. An exclusive right or privilege, as to market a product.

Case 1 applies here, or at least we are saying it does.

The fact that nobody else has said June lends weight to this claim. The fact that the articles you cite only say "after April" or "next financial year" mean we had to get June from somewhere.

Does it ever enter your head that maybe, just maybe, we have some contacts in the industry? Also does it occur to you that we can publish things like this because we don't depend on re-written press releases or specially handed-out exclusive content like some other site do?

Every so often every journalist hears something in the pub, gets an admission on the record or overhears an indiscreet conversation. That journalist can work for any publication, not just the big, "respected" ones.

That journalist can then publish an exclusive. Nobody else has the story so there can be no corroboration, and idiots like you will always shout "lies!" because your favourite news source does not have the story.

The only thing to do is wait until June and then see what happens. If the Revolution is launched then, you will come back and apologise won't you?

I'm thinking zeo is a yank considering his "all people of the world post on our forums because they love us" rethoric that's well quite republican yankeedoodie craptalk (Europeans are a bit more realistic in that regard).

your sex...well seeing your cries of attention on these forums i'm geussing you're not getting any, good old dad being the only exception.

Your age, well, apparantly not old enough to have your grey brainmasses flowing with elderly wisdom that slowly comes when hitting 16-20.

And again no arguments and no facts and no meaningfull debating coming from your mouth, having trouble admitting your wrong? afraid it would make you look weak? If you had put up a good fight in the ways of argumentation that would not be a problem. Not admitting you're wrong after al that illogical fanboy-like spewing of nonsense probably is programmed in your brain by social pressure orginating from your normal debathabitat where you think you have a reputation to defend.

Get rid of those illusions and you'll feel a more relieved and freed man. And oh yes, by the laws of argumentation made by Socrates, someone's or something's reputation is not a valid argument, only it's historical track record of achievements is.

I feel the banstick looming for Zeo.

We don't ban that often but it's about time we did. Zeo, you come here and troll and you do it in a really rubbish way.

So it's time to go. You hate us, we hate you.
You're obviously going through a rough patch at the moment. One day it will be better for you but not now. The damage is to great, the disease too strong. I think it's best you return into the glorious fold of magazine editors you call your friends elsewhere on the 'Inter-Net'.

Bye!

Bye bye Zeo.

You have been banned <global plonk>

A small part of me will miss your disasterously s**t trolling.

EXCLUSIVE:

Nintendo will ship the Revolution console in April 2006, it was revealed to me last night whilst snorting crack. My buddies in the tech and manufacturing industries came round and told me so, letting slip that there would also be a shock global launch. Although the news of a global launch sometime after March was several days old, they assured me April actually comes after March. A high placed source told me, under terms of anonymity, "Everyone at Nintendo has been briefed for this date and the official release schedule everyone is working to shows Revolution down for April 2006; this is simply a matter of fact.” The source then spun its head around 360 degrees and floated back up through the roof. I'll be sure to update this news with a statement from Nintendo as soon as possible.
