Wow, Spong seems to have quite a bad name over in GAF. What i'd like to know is why? What exactly have they done to be regarded in such light? Whatever it (allegedly) is it certainly passed me by. Anyone?

I hope Nintendo will verify it's true this year.

But what happens if Nintendo delay it, afteral we're used to seeing 6 month delays from them (especially in Europe). I think we all know Spong will be called a liar, but I hope it's true, cause that would really show the nay-sayers PLUS I want my Revolution sooner rather than later :)

Right now it down on the global release schedule for June in all territories. This might change. If it does, we’ll let you know.

As far as Gaming Age goes, here's the run of events.
SPOnG publishes a story.
First ten posts are generally "OMG you were FUTA by Spworng!!1!!1!one!!1!!" Then a discussion (as far as that's possible there) as everyone knows that it's clearly based on fact.
Then the news is confirmed by official sources at a later date.
Then everyone pretends it's a new story.

*yawn*

Gaming Age vs SPOnG is SO 1999...

REVOLUTION LAUNCH GOES GLOBAL?

Nintendo president looking to a near simultaneous worldwide Revolution launch some time after Q1 next year

10:00 Various areas of the internet are reporting this morning that, speaking to Japanese news outlet Nikkei Business, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata has outlined plans for a possible simultaneous launch of their next-gen Revolution console some time after April next year.

Iwata reportedly states: "I want to put it on the market to as many countries as possible at the same time." However, Nintendo's president also confirms that we won't be seeing the console or its magical wavy wand of mystery until after April, suggesting that - as expected - the Revolution will be the last of the next-gen machines to spring onto shelves.

Interestingly, website Ars Technica (a name that still makes us giggle, pathetically) notes that the previously reported voice message on the official Nintendo Power hotline in the US has been updated. Rather than outlining a release "in the later half of 2006", the message now points to an "estimated for release in 2006." The site speculates that judicious juggling of numbers makes a May/June launch likely. However, we can't help but worry that Nintendo's relatively specific original announcement has been replaced by a slightly more vague and non-commital possible 2006 release.

Still, whenever it finally arrives, if Nintendo does a Microsoft and manages to pull a global release out of their mystical launch hats, that can only be a good thing - with its competitors massaging the thighs of a worldwide audience, hopefully Sony will buck up its notoriously lax treatment of you-know-where come the PS3.

Sorry for the slight outage - we got dugg proper big style.

Anyway, MCV has put its weight behind this story too, though it writers believe September is a more likely date.

You do realize that GAF is where multiple people from EGM, 1Up.com, and GameSpot post, right? You do realize they have more insiders than probably any other gaming forum on the net, right? You do realize how respected that place is, right?

Ah yes, the Gaming-Age forums, a site respected by industry insiders because they put other news sites' names into their swear filter? A site so professional that they rename and lock a thread that starts off by discussing a news story from here!

Sounds like a haven of intellectual discussions, doesn't it?

What bugs me is the estimated 300€ price tag. 300 euros is around $350, nearly double what it would cost in the U.S.

I don't think the price would be that different for Europe.

Hmmm, we have typically always got things at dollar for pound. So if it costs $200 over there, we typically get it for £200. Obviously how much "more" that is depends on the exchange rate.

Usually the dollar and the euro are about 1.5 (ish) to the pound, so £200 is (usually) €300. So you'd expect a $200 to be $300.

It's only the US president being a warring bafoon that is making things all weird exchange rate wise.

I have to say i have to come respect Spong, it has a nice staff that actually debates with you and nice forums with nice people and funny newsposts wth good exclusives.
Seeing their track record of obtaining leaks on vital Big N info (how do you peeps keep doing that, Nintendo is like the Pentagon except ten times more secure and with killer cyberneticninja's and s**t) i have to, as a historian in training, give Spong the advantage of the doubt...in a big good way.

Only the price... if you look at the DS and GC doesn't it seem more logical that nintendo would do a 'price in dollars= price in euro's' thing instead of the pound. Now if this was Sony we're talking about...i would believe it, they screwed our asses many a time.

The Revolution will be globalized
Nintendo prez targets simultaneous worldwide release sometime after April 2006; says Rev will be "complete failure" if it doesn't outsell the GameCube.

TOKYO--Nintendo president Satoru Iwata revealed that the company is aiming for a simultaneous worldwide release of its next-generation gaming console, the Revolution. Iwata also confirmed that the system will be coming out after March in 2006.

Talking about the Revolution in an interview with Nikkei Business, Iwata stated, "I can only say that it's coming out during 2006, but it will be after the current fiscal year. We hope to make it a simultaneous worldwide release as much as it's possible."

Since the current fiscal year for Nintendo ends on March 31, 2006, it means the Revolution, as predicted by analysts, will likely be released somewhere between April 1 and December 31, 2006.

When asked by Nikkei Business if he has any specific sales figure targeted for the Revolution, Iwata stated that he hopes the console will sell at least more than the GameCube, which has shipped 18.76 million units as of June.

"It [the Revolution] would be a complete failure if we didn't sell more units than the Nintendo GameCube," said Iwata.

The system's controller, which was revealed in September, was the focus of much of the console's buzz. Surprisingly, Iwata revealed to Nikkei that Nintendo's former president, Hiroshi Yamauchi, was not involved in any way with the creation of the Revolution's controller.

Iwata told Nikkei Business that the Revolution's controller uses several different types of technology, though he did not go into specifics. However, he did note that the controller can be used with any kind of monitor, even digital projectors.

Nintendo hatches secret global launch plan for Revolution
14:45BST, Oct 25th by Johnny Minkley

Nintendo is set to mirror Microsoft’s Xbox 360 launch strategy, the Japanese firm believed to be planning a global rollout for its Revolution system next year.

According to online reports emerging today (October 25th), Nintendo’s next-generation GameCube successor could hit Japan, US and European retail as early as June 2006.

However, MCV understands that September is more likely, although no official announcement is expected until early 2006.

Responding to the claims, a Nintendo of Europe spokesperson told MCV: “This is a rumour and we don’t comment on rumours.”

Anyone think we're going to see Ze(r)o posting an apology to Spong?

LOL ZERO. I SEE WHAT YOU DID THERE. WITTY.

No, I will not be apologizing, as I was right: Spong had no exclusive. And as was said in the GAF thread, the "exclusive" was based on other information that was released in the past day or two.

You people do know what "exclusive" means, right?

So, if Spong have got exclusive sources saying that the launch is lined up for June, then it's not an exclusive, even though other sites are only speculating at present? Hmmmmm

Seeing as you don't know that yourself you would still deny it if we gave you the real official explanation of the word.

All i'm reading is some blablaing of some f**ktard with a tree up his ass from f**ktard kingdom GAF who keeps his stand in the most illogical fanboy way imaginable (yes, fanboy can be used for more purposes, it's called linguistic flexibility).

Give me some facts, some arguments, something to work with, without that you don't have a case and your potential matarial looks as barren as the bloody soaring sahara.

now go look for a girlfirend or some other friends because you've got 'hey hey give me attention for my stupid remarks quickly, i need it to compensate my childhood' written all over you. shoo be gone.
