I think someone's getting their maths and stats wrong. Activision would be happier for 2 things: a) As many sales as possible (which is just sheer numbers) and b) As many of those actual sales were for Special Edition (which is the percentage part) 70% of actual sales being bog standard versions isn't something to be pleased about.
OK I cant link any figures but I am sure I read somewhere that MW2 sold about 7 million copies in first 24 hours, of that 80-85% were standard versions, and the remaining 15-20% were special edition so I reckon we can expect around the same figures this year too. I really want the RC Car version, but Xmas is coming and kids come first so ill be sticking to standard version. what your stating has nothing to do with maths as Dee and Myself just simply stated based on the poll and last years sales figures how Activsion would be pleased.
You never mentioned a comparison to last year's figures? You just said 70% of sales being bog standard would be great. And you talk of sales figures, percentages, comparisons to last year's figures, ratios of standard to special sales etc and say it's not maths & stats? Of course it is.
Current figures are 7% special, 50% standard, 37% Won't buy and 7% just said "other" to see the results. That works out at 12% being Special and 82% being standard.
Will the manufacturer's be pleased about the voting figures on this site? Personally I think they won't give a rat's ass.
This is a poll, a general guesstimate guideline on how the consumer will buy of course I didn't mean on this site surely you must know I didn't mean that!!
the 70% refers to 70% of the 100% who buy Black Ops, not the 70% of SPOnG Poll voters.
And I am pretty sure manufacturers wont be bothered, Devs and Publishers on the other hand might be.... and as such their own in house polls and sales predictions will determine how many copies of each needs to be produced.
