ok cool for microsoft but hay the ps3 has had good sales and over sold 360 lots of weeks in the uk and you dont see much about that all i whant to say is hope microsoft keep doing well

You might dismiss it as nothing much Pudge, but its a bigger sign that something is happening in Japan. Something that's exciting to see, if more 360s are sold there.
PS3 has sold well their more than 360, that much is true, but PS3 hasn't had enough of the decent games to back up those sales. Blu Ray is cool, but not enough when DVD 9s are much cheaper. It may also be a fact that many japanese gamers already have a PS3, but have never made the reluctant MS jump to also buy 360.
On top of all that, its also exciting because the japanese have shunned western games for a long, long time. The very fact 360 allows a lot of demos of such games, gives japanese gamers a nice try before you buy incentive (yes, I know PS3 does it too, but there are more western games on 360, with it being out longer).
If it takes a 360 price drop to get them to try Tales of Vesperia, then that's a good segway to other games they might otherwise not try, western or not, demo or full game. And overall. this is a good thing for the health of the games industry, as its been an east to west street for so long. We have learned a lot from the japanese over the years, while coining our own new tricks, but some of them seem reluctant and stuck in their ways to do the same.
Another positive note, is that some (even in japan developers/publishers themselves) have recently said the japanese side of the industry has become a bit stale and lacklustre (we need only look at some what archaic bits of game design, like still using specified save points, when a hard drive based console could technically allow a save anywhere in a game). If you look at PS2, many japanese developers still choose it over PS3, and while PS2's cheaper, some are stunting their growth by not adjusting to new 3d tech etc, a PS3 or 360 would offer them, quick enough. The 360 is a good and cheaper catalyst for them to not be afraid of trying something new, which will benefit their talent overall.
Don't get me wrong, I love me some crazy cool japanese games (cliched or not), but the sooner the japanese, adjust the better for us all, as no one likes to be left behind.

Yeah.. I guess Im a schmuck for saying my opinion, Is eveyone a schmuck that doesnt agree with your opinion, Heres what I dont get. When the ps3 came out, everyone watered it down from xbox camp.... every month somthing new about how bad the ps3 is selling yada yada yada yada. Now that the tables are turning , Im getting alot of winers that hang off threads like this. I do agree with the guy before you that no likes to be left behind, and with that respect its good to see that a pricedrop and TOV is selling systems over there, I just dont understand the need to tout it untill its a substantail amount..not everyweek. Man, when the ps3 beat xbox in jan/feb i was pissed they did one of these articles for ps3, Cuzz We were not sure we were gonna sell out xbox for most of 2008, if we didnt sony would be closing ps3 doors right now. So wiether you like it or not. Im gonna continue to write what ever I feel. Sorry but this article well it holds 24000 units sold for xbox 360 and 16 for ps3 , lol.. thats a very low # to be reporting. Thats like reporting why we won the month when metal gear came out...... and why is that.. because metal gear came out.

Id rather play metal gear solid or call of duty 4 over halo, gears of war ill give you that, which is an excellent game, single player was a little short thou, and I guess thats where having dvd 9 sucks.. cuzz metal had 40 minute cuts scence and plenty of them and around 30 hours of game play. Infact metal is the only game i consider next gen at the moment.

I think at best you’re seeing the glass half empty; at worst you’re being paranoid. The reason that this is news worthy is simple, the XBOX is selling in Japan, when in the past you’d have an easier time selling ice to the Inuit. It’s not, as you seem to think, that the PS3 has dropped off the chart.
If MS can keep it up then it’s good news for gamers, even those that see themselves as part of the Sony “we”, because Japanese developers should get the wake up call to start pushing, to see what this generation of consoles can really do, before they get swamped by stuff from elsewhere, which for the most part, has more modern production values. Ironic, but it could be true; more 360s in Japan could be good news the PS3 if it stops developers just chasing the easy Wii/PS2 market.

You're a schmuck because you don't understand why Xbox sales in Japan are notable (as in newsworthy) and significant. Console sales anywhere else in the world are a "Dog bites man" story. Xbox sales in Japan is "Man bites dog"

By reporting the sales figures from Japan, SPOnG was not "touting" Xbox sales, it reported a phenomenon unusual and unexpected enough to be of interest to its readers, no matter what their console of choice is. Sales figures from other regions are regularly reported on as well, they just aren't nearly as interesting as those currently coming out of Japan at the moment. To put it in a current events context, its like if Obama was polling better than McCain in Utah, or conversely, if McCain started picking up points among Chicago blacks. It'd be the same story if the positions were reversed.

So, xbox selling consoles cuzz they picked up 4 or 5 JRpg is A big deal, ....... Microsoft outselling sony is a big deal...... after sony release its console, but sony coming back isnt. I get what u mean. well im sure if you get rrod like i have twice, and im not a fan boy , i had an xbox and ps2 as well, I thought the xbox had better hardware, but I prefered my ps2 cuzz it just was better. Same with xbox 360 and ps3, While I think live is a great online platform for gaming I dont think its the whole package, I can do way more with my ps3, Install Any linux distro, Stream movies from my computer and or pc games, I can store divx movies on my 500g laptop harddrive. Ill be getting play tv which turns my ps3 into a DVr, not to mention wireless hdmi and blueray all built in and wireless controllers that recharge withou replacing a batter, it also syncs with ipods and other mps3 devices 7.1 surround if I wanted to take it to the max, I have the 60 gig model so i can play and playstation game ever made, and it has a media card reader in the front which in turn allows me to take my sd card from my camera and put it in and check out my pictures and or 2 other forms of cards that are stander on the market, also I can use usb hubs and usb sticks to transport aswell, I can go online and read with it. The THing is a monster, Also ,.. my whole libray of music from my computer is streamed to my ps3. and last but not least. i can play ps3 games. and Itoy, ..... I cant do alot of these things with my xbox 360. I also forgot.. The ps3 can print 2.
