Lol. I didn't expect any less from the greed monkeys at Sony. Continue onto your demise then. Only a price drop is gonna save PS3 from being ripped apart between 360 and Wii.

Its gonna be an interesting run up to xmas, that much is sure.

There might be a price drop, but admitting it early is a stupid idea. Everyone who wants one will wait for the drop.

This comment means nothing, really.

Hang On. Prices are already dropping.
Amazon and Play re selling it for £399.99 (oh how I long for the 99p coin).
I've see it being sold wholesale 5 for £1250.00 that's £250.00 each. And ten for £200.00 each.

I will buy PS3, I have no doubt about that, but the high price is hurting its sales. If Sony wants sales to increase they need a price cut, or else people will buy the inferior Xbox 360 instead.

Blab, Blab, Blab..... Stop crying over the price already. The system is well worth the money besides 600 dollars is nothing when you think about what you're getting. I mean most of the people complaining about the price will go right out and spend 250 or even 400 hundred on a cell phone.... and we all know that they won't last a year before they become outdated. Just think about the price and what you are getting.... As for the 360 if they can't correct the problem with system failures they are going to loose the die hard gamer who happens to be their largest customer base.

Ballocks.

The system is well worth the money my lily-white ass. I didn't even pay full price for the system I bought, and that system actually HAS many worthy games availible for it and more on the way than the PS3.

IF you have an HDMI display, and IF you don't care about a proven online service, and IF you're committed to one (or more, oops MGS doesn't count anymore) of the exclusive Sony franchises, THEN, perhaps the MSRP of a PS3 seems like a reasonable price to you.

If you have a non-HDMI HD display, then I'd have to say a used (hopefully untampered with, or at least not banned) Premium 360 system is your best buy. Currently I see them at around 3/5 of MSRP, sometimes with included extras.

This quote from Sharples mentions nothing about whether or not Sony will cut prices on the PS3 console. All he stated is that he is unaware of any plans to cut PRODUCTION of the console due to poor sales, not the price. This article is totally misleading. I think purposely in order to get more hits on the internet.

Ok, $600 for just the base console with one controller, add on another $50 for an extra controller, add on another $50-$70 per game, and the price quickly begins to climb to almost $1,000. I don't know if you're rich or what but to us working class folk, that's an ass load of money.

???? I love Sony bashes having a go with nonsense information to prove a point $600 + 50 +50 = $1000. What calculator are you using.

Well something better happen with the PS3, right now you can get a PS3 with a free controller....that is the old controller before Sony starts producing the ones with vibration feedback...um, the same vibration feedback they said was cut due to interference with the motion sensing....the same motion sensing they said was not a weak attempt at copying the Wii-mote because it was in development months before the Wii's announcement YET developers didn't even know about it until months later. Everyone already knows they don't have any games for the system, the best thing recently being a re-re-rereleased Xbox game from 5yrs ago.

An overpriced console, with no games, an already admitted soon to be replaced controller...sounds like a great deal! But hey, at least the online play is free! I can log in using multiple usernames and passwords to play with 3 other people that have the system! WOOHOO!

But then again that is the electronic gaming world we now live in. One system as listed above, another one that is amazing but breaks every 4mos, and another one running on 10ry old tech and displays in 480p and has no online play (but hey it has an innovative controller!). The next gen of console gaming is garbage, yet I don't want to spend $3000 on a super gaming PC with no vibration, mulitple usernames and passwords for online, viruses, and the additional $300 I have to spend each year to keep it up to date to play the latest games (let's also not forget I have to spend my time gaming in an isolated room while the console guys are having a party in the living room). SUCKS!

I didn't say 600 +50+50 = 1000 read my quote again, moron. And this time read it more carefully. $50-70 PER GAME. And I'm assuming most people will be buying more then just one game for their PS3. Why don't you learn to read more carefully before making stupid snap-backs.

I hate rerunning myself but hey,

PS3's succes will at this stage not be determined by it's game or online features or what not, but simply how fast they can get that thing priced under the 300 euro's. After that the classical stuff like games and online features come up.

Otherwise it's a good solid console.

If the Ps3 was 200 quid right now i wouldn't buy one.... not because i hate the PS3 or Sony, but the simple fact that right now for GAMING (which is why i'd buy a games console) there is nothing out there to play on it? well nothing near what i'm getting from my 360.
I'm a huge impulse buyer if there's something new like a gadget or toy out there i'll nomally get it, but i see no reason to buy a PS3 at all, yer maybe a cheapish blu-ray player, but i'm holding off on buying the very cheap HD-DVD player for the 360 until the format war has been settled. I dont think money @ this point comes into it, it's trying to justify a reason.

The PS3 will be around for a long time and the demise of Sony does not rest upon the shoulders of the PS3. Let's put this in perspective shall we? What console (other than the Wii) is out-selling all other platforms? The PS2. Why? Because Sony has vowed to support the PS2 for another three years. Once that support is over with, Sony will revert to a greater support for the PS3 and in doing so, all those with large PS2 game libraries will have but one console choice if they so choose to keep playing all of their older PS games... The PS3. The support will be there. Sony is in it for the long haul... Unlike MS who suddenly dropped the Xbox like a two ton brick once the 360 came out. No love for the Xbox fans, only love for money - it's the MS way!
