It's definitely fake. From the website hosting it;
"These are movies of classic console games being played extraordinarily, using an emulator as a tool to overcome human limitations of skill and reflex."
It's still pretty cool though. More can be found here;
Just cause he cheated doesn't make it fake. He did finish the game in the stated time. Could he do that in one go on a real console? Maybe not, but he could probably do it in 30 minutes, now that he knows how.
It does if the emulator was used in conjunction with a carefully scripted macro combining a well-timed series of "user" inputs resulting in ideal and perfect gameplay.

But even that would be impressive. You'd have to work out the "perfect gameplay" first.
I'm still a purist. I don't give any credibility to "fastest times" done with any sort of emulator. It has to be done the way it was meant to be played.
without being a wet blanket i think this thing is a disgrace.i have played thru this game and its superb,a 16 minute run spoils it.
to see it ripped to pieces makes me sad.
Unless Miamoto Sans is a vampire i dont suspect he spends much time in a casket. Of course what do I know of the weird Japanese culture...they love Salt Flavored Ice Cream.
Oh for Christ's sake, will you guys lighten up? It's just a video =P
Yeah, of course Mario 64 rocks, and 16 minutes do it no justice. But that video was still cool. How many of you knew you could get past the 70 star minimun for passing the game?
