An HD PSP would be pointless. The hard drive would require the unit to increase in size, which no-one wants, and by the time it arrives, 4Gb Memory Sticks will be comparatively cheap.

You can fit 1000 songs, or about 12 full length movies on a 4Gb card. What do we need a hard drive for?

I mean a Hard Drive PSP, not a High Def one.

Clearly, a High Def PSP would be sex in a shiny case.

They'd need another new battery for a Hard Disk too
still you could put all of your downloaded roms onto your hacked HD PSP
but it would kind of take it away from being a games machine with a hdd. I'm still not convinced sony know what to do with psp.

By the way, Piper Jaffray have to answer some questions before we take them seriously.

1. they had a history of cooking books

2. try this quote from the following website:
"Piper Jaffray was making a market in the securities of Microsoft Corporation at the time this research report was published. Piper Jaffray will buy and sell Microsoft Corporation securities on a principal basis.

Piper Jaffray has received compensation for non-investment banking securities-related services from Microsoft Corporation within the past 12 months."

Sometimes, things are as obvious as 1+1 = 2. :)

"According to a newly-published analyst report, Sony Computer Entertainment is planning a new PSP model in the not too distant future. The paper, released by Piper Jaffray, claims that SCEI is currently working on a hard drive-enabled PlayStation Portable."

No where did they say that sony is developing a HD psp, the firm only said that it is their expectation that this is what sony is doing, a.k.a. it's an educated guess.

Whereas all other video gaming websites are reporting on their estimates of next gen console sales, Spong decides to focus on what can only be described as worhtless, sensationalist journalism.

I wonder why Spong is considered a second-rate webpage?

Lemme think? "Worthless figures pulled out of the arse of someone who doesn't know anything about the games industry" versus "Interesting idea for next-gen handheld that can't have been thought up on the spot". Which would you rather read about?

Also wouldn't you rather read about both aspects of the report, not just another piece of "analysis" of the out-of-the-arse numbers?

So do I. Really, really wonder sometimes.

An Hitachi micro-drive, for example, would actually work quite well. Replace the UMD drive completely with the little beauty.

Of course, this opens up problems controlling distibution of games/movies... not to mention the fact $ony are unlikely to give up an opportunity to sell their over-priced MS Duos.
