Actually, except for Killzone I don't think these awards are too far off the mark.

On the other hand, I haven't seen much about Spore. EA grabbing an innovation award? Stange?

Indeed, what the crap is Spore?

Well at least the game of the show isn't some 30-second trailer of some game thats not coming out for the next 2 years...right Doom3, Quake 4 and others...

Spore is the next game by Will Wright, designer of "The Sims" and it got an innovation award for that very reason. It's like a Peter Molyneux game getting a best of show award, it's the law!

Anyway, Spore is a game about life, you evolve the single-celled inhabitants of a planet to the point where they make war on other planets. Supposedly the game also involves everything in between.

The Official Site is up with quite a funny flash intro.

Spore is indeed worthy of the praise. The Killzone and PS3 awards is a fantastic demonstration of how it has got to the point nobody cares for these awards. It's like giving out "best brick wall in a film" at the Oscars.

These are the same awards that nominated the Gizmondo over the Revolution in the best hardware catagory, yes?

Yes?
