This is the worst online gaming experience I've ever had. You can't pick the server you want to play on, based on certain map, pings, or favorites, you have no choice where they send you or what map you play. Often you can't find a game at all, there are no admins to boot hackers, griefers, and asshats that scream into their microphones (although you can mute them). I hate what they have done and regret shelling out my hard earned cash to buy this piece of crap. I live in southern California and the only game IWnet could find for me last night was on a server hosted by an Australian. Also, anyone you are playing with is hosting the game, so if they quit, you lose your connection and the game 'migrates' to someone else's computer, but usually the game just gets dumped. I hate you IW, and you will never see another dime of my money. Cannot wait until Bad Company 2 comes out.
This is the precise reason most players buy it for a console. Cheating is non-existent on the PS3 and quite low (compared to no. of users) on the 360 thus providing a fairer playground for all.
I havent run into many cheats on line yet, only a couple...it really is no better or worse than COD4 was for cheats.
They claim VAC is something new, but they dont mention that COD4 ran punkbuster which is the same sort of thing. The difference being that the dedicated servers, which they removed, had human admins on that would ban the hackers mid game.
The bigger issue here is the lack of these dedicated servers. My connection is awful and I find it almost impossible to play.
For some reason my ISP sees the games communications as file sharing torrent traffic and blocks it / discards packets which makes my game lag so bad. Doesnt do this on the same internet connection with a PS3 though, but im pretty sure IW dont care.
Well i have been playing CODMW2 online for some days now, and i think the server is much better than tho old style.
Instead of 1000 half full servers like it used to be now you get nearly 100% full games.
Well done Infinity Ward and keep up the good work.
Well obviously you have no online friends. I have a groups of mates who formed a fun clan, currently there is 8 of us. Connected to each other is a pain in the arse, #Attempting 1...2...3... once you connect you can wait an age to find a game 30secs+ then when you get in 1 might drop out due to connection issues, which means you have to all come out as the servers usually get full up.
IW tells you to open up UPnP, which a quick search on the 'net reveals that this is a security issue, open up the ports they specify dont help much either, try playing 2 Player Spec Ops, me & a mate managed 2 games, then changed the level then got the #Attempting 1...2...3... sign again ! ! ! Nothing had changed so why cant I connect again ?
I played Hardcore in Modern Warfare and liked that you didnt need to empty a whole clip into them to kill them. Hardcore is in MW2 but not on all gametypes, which is a pain. You cant specify a map you want to play on, you randomly get any map.
Agreed that you now have servers that are usually full up 12 - 6 vs 6, but all you had to do in previous games since COD:UO was search by number of users and connect to servers with 12+ more players - not exactely rocket science !
Lag is a major problem, I shot someone in the face with a full clip to only be slashed, on the kill cam I didnt even fire a shot, I have seen other Clan's complain about the lag. Dedicated servers are better as they have the upload bandwidth. I have a 8mb with a UK ISP, they restrict your upload to about 40k, which for other games like Counter Strike Source is good for about 10 connections, and as it uses Steam it should be the same.
They have dropped the ball with PC Users, they dont care about us anymore. You dont even have the option to kick someone, have the option to have team kill on or not (Richocet - why not just give us the option instead of making up new gametypes). Leaning I dont really care about, but Dedicated Servers I do. The Demolition Gametype I do like, it gets really intense when you are down to the last bomb.
And they fleeced us on 1 of the maps, its a rehash of the Brecourt map minus the cows and with an added church.
It pains me to say its but Treyarch's system was better, Dedicated Servers, a Friends list that actually allowed you to connect them without any stupid messages, and all without any lag (due to Dedi Servers). Activision et al have turned the PC Market into a console with a Keyboard & Mouse and I dont see it getting any better...
Cheating accounts maybe.. more reliable networking experience??
How is my Virgin media 10mb with an upload speed of 150k better than my 10mb datacentre connection connected directly to various ISPs in the UK? Think they have been hit with the bullshit hammer..
My experience, s**t. every other server/game is laggy, doesn't connect, times out because the host didn't want to play anymore and there pron has finshed downloading..
The multiplayer rocks but IWnet sucks to the max!!!! What if I wanna play all the time in the same map just because I love it? I CANT!!! What If I wanna play with my clan friends? I VARELY CAN!!!! What if IWnet put me on a server that has a huge lag and I go out fromit? IWnet brings me back to the same goddamn laggy server!!!!! BRING BACK DEDICATED SERVERS YOU DORKS OR AS SOON AS BF:BD 2 WILL ARRIVE EVERYBODY WILL LEAVE!
Ive played this game for a few weeks, i dont like the fact i cant choose maps or modify server settings for custom matches, but it has for the most part kept cheating to a min. I have experienced a few cheaters, obvious after a couple of tactical nukes, and players with prestige a few days after the games release.... I hope they find these losers and crucify them, wish they could shut down these "pay to cheat" websites popping up too...
I hate you IW, and you will never see another dime of my money.
Cannot wait until Bad Company 2 comes out.
