Yeah, this is exactly what happened in the DDO FTP beta. I honestly suggest everyone to give them a "bug" input and let them know how they got their keys and where they are from (what web site), It should be fixed shortly thereafter.

They held an event yesterday, and one of the points they mentioned was:

So definitely there is something missing here. Maybe they forgot to give you the codes, or idk!

Yea it's the 9.90 GB, and the name of the game's shortcut after the installation should be "The Lord of the Rings Online - Public Test".
Concerning your second question: No, everything get deleted. It's the way it is in all betas.
