It seems that out of 10 games, there will be 2 or so cheaters that I have noticed. They try quite hard to hide their aimbots, but sttll fairly easy to spot.
I have been a frequent player since this game came out. I play about 5 days a week at least a couple of hours. The cheating problems seems to be getting worse every day, to the point where I am comfortable saying at least half of the games I join has a hacker in it. When I say "hacker" I don't mean that guy who's getting a good kill streak and doing well; it's that guy who ends the round in 2 minutes or less with a tactical nuke and ends the game with 60-100 kills and 1-5 deaths. On top of that, when you watch them, they make it blatantly obvious by their crosshairs going all over the screen lightning fast and getting huge amounts of kills. Maybe Infinity Ward's theory looked great on paper, but it fails extremely miserably in practice. I dare their executives to spend two weeks playing on an anonymous account and they can experience the nightmare firsthand of having a hacker in the game every other round. Hackers aren't the only problem, though. The constant failed connections to hosts, the huge amount of failed host migrations, losing connection to the host halfway through the game, etc. makes the online experience even worse. I even tried hooking up my internet directly to my cable modem and letting Windows Firewall allow everything through, and still have these connection issues. I am an IT student – Believe me, I have done extensive diagnostics on all of my hardware/software and tested it all in other games; MF2 is the only one that experiences these problems. MF2 is a great game and lots of fun, but frankly these cheating and connection problems remove all fun from the game. When I join a game with a hacker rampaging, generally I will leave the game and causes it to be counted as a loss on my profile... fantastic. Alternatively, I will get disconnected mid-game, lost my match bonus, and even lose some XP progress. I hope this is a lesson to all developpers. You cannot use the same multiplayer system for the PC that you use for consoles. PC multiplayer games thrive on the dedicated server concept, which also ensures the host of the game is not some random person playing MF2, who is renting a room in the house with 5 other people all downloading movies and porn while playing the game.
IWnet is so much slower than joining through console. I have honestly seen more cheaters in the first couple days of playing then in about 500 hours of COD4. It's a joke. More lag too. Then to top that off I get an instant loss for leaving a laggy or cheater filled game to add insult to injury.
mw2 is total crap on the pc deathmatch 8 players is s**t its no diffrent from 3360/ps3 now, and the lag is terrible i hate this game online its ruined pc cod.
@WhiskeyTangoFoxtrot Actually, VAC(Valve Anti-Cheat) collects info about the hackers, and continues to monitor them. about 2 weeks later, they think they've gotten away with it, then bam, VAC bans them out of nowhere, their whole steam account.
a friend in your lobby will sometimes get the error "server is full" when you are looking for a game together also there is so many hackers on PC its just F*CK*N pathetic. step it up IWnet
The pc version is horrible. With the lack of dedicated servers and alot of the lag issues, the game is getting worse and worse. Then you run into the Aimbotters over and over again makes me really doubt the power of IWnet. Give the power to the players....there we can boot cheaters and hackers. I have seen the same aimbotter everyday for the past month Manbearpig. Obviously IW isnt trying too hard fighting the hackers.
@Bl00dRush Is there any way of finding out who the host is or if you are the host. That way if you get a cheater on you can dissconnect and they will have to find another host.
I have been playing on the pC version and I don't mind the IWNet to be honest. Its like im back on xbox live again. my problem still remains like many is the lack of support from steam and IW. Hackers are growing and even though you can report them nothing is being done. Watching the level hacked player with level 10 prestige go around using a aimbot and wallhack is very unfun and within 2 minutes of the game starting he has 25 kills and a nuke is called in. The hackers need to be dealt with. If IW wants to continue using IWNet then they gotta do the work behind it, if not hand the servers back over so we can have admins that take care of the constant hackers that IW doesn't want to do anything with.
Now I know how these guys are prestiging 5 times when it took me a month. Wish they would let us build a Ban list. Sooner or later they aould have no one to play with but themselves.
SO MANY HACKERS. I don't even know where to begin on how f**king stupid IW is being over the dedicated servers, admins, and hacker problems. They are ignoring us and our desperate cries for help as our heads explode the instant we turn a corner to face a hacker.
I honistly.. still think 4 is much better, MW2 is very sniper unfriendly.
After around 2-3 weeks of its release on PC, everygame almost had 3-5+ hackers, Rank hack [Lvl 70 Prestige 10] Aimbot, Wallhack ect...
Today i saw 4 hackers, still there are hackers, there always will be so theres nothing u can do exept slam em with the banhammer! and ofcourse update VAC lol
