I do indeed find it pointless when you have to watch it on such a tiny screen, i mean i like to watchmovies when i can get into them properly and watching 10 minutes of something on a bus doesn't really appeal to me.
Well, when your opinions differ greatly to that of your girlfriend, for 90% of films, believe me when I say I find it very useful. Especially when you have over 2 hours of commuting a day. Honestly, the PSP has actually made travelling pleasurable.

Isn't Sony's memory stick only compatable with plenty of other Sony products?
Obviously. But having acted on several glowing reviews of Sony's excellent budget-range digi cameras (£150-£250 range), I'm extremely happy with my Cyber shot DSC-L1 - with which I can store loads of high definition shots onto my useless, massive memory stick.
Some guy in a store in Chester-Le-Street tried to hoist one on me today. It's too shiny, like they coated it in gloss varnish. The screen seemed a bit low quality, and it still surprises me how big the damn thing is. Add to that the lack of games that appeal to me and, well, they have a long way to go in winning me over.
As for watching films on the go, my mobile's got as big a screen, and a little (Sony!) program on my PC zips films up nice and small so I can fit LOTR on 256mb. Smooth framerate, good image quality... keeps me going anyway. That and the Picodrive megadrive emulator on there.
Well it makes sense for me to pick up a PSP for the games only. I said from day one that the UMD thin wouldn't be enough to justify investing in the feature when DVD are so established in the mainstream, and with HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on the way they are gonna be around for years to come. So why the f**k do we want UMD films, Sony.
Concentrate on the gaming dammit Sony. Just because another wing of your business does films and music doesn't mean we want them all in one.
What's the point in spending £200 on a new 2GB Mem stick when you can buy a 20GB media player for that price.
Sorry Sony, but it's DS for me til you learn you can't charge the earth for a bit of mobile gaming, drop that price too.
Sony also have to be careful with both porn films and GTA due to grace their UMD slot. Another GTA in japan could be a bad thing right now.
I think by Xmas the hand held war will be over in Nintendo's favour once GBA Micro hits stores. DS and GBA Micro will then be hanging Sony PSP from a xmas tree while they languish in giftwrapped paper underneath.
However Kid, not everyone has a bunch of Sony products lying around. Most of their products are decent quality, but usually over priced. Plus I have an inherent dislike for Sony because of the poor quality of pretty much everything they've done with the PS2, so I don't have too many Sony products. You can't just assume that the memory stick isn't a big deal because some people have other Sony products around.
I agree Joji, the Handheld war is definately falling into Nintendo's hands. They were ahead, and then they brought out new colors and took the lead even more. Not even to mention that most of the DS's hyped games aren't even out. By Christmas Mario Kart, Metroid: Hunters, Electroplankton, Advanced Wars, and Nintendo's sales giant Nintendogs will all be out. What does the PSP have coming out? Death Jr. is getting some hype, but I doubt it will save the PSP. Maybe, maybe the PSP GTA will. We'll see.
