Just building a new PC right now, when looking at the idea of Windows 8 my primary thought has been, why would I want to use an OS that is primarily for touch based systems on my desktop pc? Why would I bother, when they don't even let you disable the Touch based UI and go directly to the Desktop version?
There is no point in leaving Windows 7 for 8 on a desktop, in fact the annoyances may outweigh the improvements.
Simple fix MS, update to add a Classic Desktop default mode.

I cannot agree with you strongly enough. The Metro start page is going to kill gaming in Windows 8.
