1. Rare's games suck. Whether or not they're on Nintendo or Microsoft their games suck. Because of this, even if Rare were developing for Nintendo the quality (or lack of) of their games wouldn't change. Nintendo has a lot of excellent games, and this generation Rare is a company they've done well without.
A waste of time would be posting your suggestion. I was not challenging the opinion, but asking the reasoning behind it. It's a fairly logical concept: if you hold a belief, there must be some kind of reasoning behind it (even something as simple as "I like the colour of the logo"). I was merely curious as to why Rare was still a top developer in his eyes; did he enjoy Grabbed by the Ghoulies, or did he consider it a mere performance slip in the Rare performance record? There's a multitude of reasons why someone could be excited, and I was interested as someone that is not excited to find out why someone would be.
Has it ever occured to you that he just likes the quality of the games? And he doesn't have to give a reason on why that is just because you don't like them.
If I post any opinion on these boards, from "I hate the Dreamcast" (obviously untrue) to "I like Burnout 3", I'd half-expect to be asked about it, particularly on an uncommon viewpoint. If I said I had faith in Sega considering the company's performance over the last few years, people would rightly question that, citing Altered Beast, Samurai Jack and possibly Sonic Heroes as reasons they don't. I would respond that I enjoyed OutRun 2, the Super Monkey Ball games and Virtua Fighter 4: Evolution. Those people would have been curious as to why I hold my position, and I would have answered their question.
I don't expect anything more of my fellow posters than I'd give myself.

Asking if there was a reason behind their opinion isn't an opinion though. That's just showing that you think their opinion is wrong. You could've just stated that you didn't like RARE's games much. You didn't have to say any of that "Is there a particular reason" crap did you? You should just accept that you're not the only one with an opinion!
I'm not supposing that their opinion is wrong, but I am asking why they hold it. This is a discussion forum - we discuss each other's views and opinions. What could be less healthy for discussion than just taking everyone else's view at face value? One person that enjoys Rare games may very well enjoy them for a different reason than any other person. I explained my stance on Rare because I did not want to question to be taken as a "why do u thnk rare iz da best?" kind of thing from a fan board, I wanted to know from the perspective of a non-fan. I'm not asking for the other person to change their views - I'm simply saying "convince me".
Please don't refer to any of what I'm saying as "crap". Descending to childish insults demeans us both.
As for myself not being the only one with an opinion, I'm very well aware of that. I'm also very well aware of the reasons I hold the opinions that I do. Unfortunately, not having psychic abilities makes knowing other people's reasons difficult. As I'm interested in those reasons, the best thing to do is ask.
- There is not a single game I think is good on Xbox.
Have you played Ninja Gaiden, OutRun 2, Jet Set Radio Future, Panzer Dragoon Orta or Fable? Those are the Xbox exclusive games I've been playing most, along with Burnout 3 and Metal Slug 3 (both of which are multiformat).

Nope, but I think I said that "look good". I must admit, even with good games I would never fill M$ coffers.
-There is not a single game I think is good on Xbox. - I would get a PS2 for Final Fantasy, however I'm not paying a substantial amount of money for a few games. - At the moment, the PSP doesn't have anything unique about it.
1)Nintendo doesn't have anything that looks good other than the three franchises they sequel each year and even some of them you can argue their five star status (Mario Sunshine, Starfox Adventures, etc.) Also if you want any sort of decent FPS on a console, you have to go X-Box. Also for your GOOD Sega games (JSRF and Panzer Dragoon Orta to name two). Same with Tecmo (DOAXBV and Ninja Gaiden, DOA is a piece of crap series). But that aside...
2)This point goes back to point one about Nintendo not having alot of good games if any at all that come out whereas Playstation has hundreds each year with at least 15-20 five star games arguably. And what about your substantial amount of money theory. Nintendo = $100 Playstation 2 = $150 A new non Sony game for PS2 or Gamecube = $50
So say you buy your two good Nintendo games this year, I'm giving you one less because I assume like all Nintendo fans that they hold their Nintendo games to higher level than most gamers (i.e. we won't take s**t like Starfox Assault). So your spending only a hundred dollars a year on games. You can't shell out $150 for the obviously too rich for your blood ultra gaming system that is PS2? And...
3)Gimmie something unique about DS that doesn't involve Warioware. It being the only exception, the PSP looks better, has a better lineup coming, has lots of rabid fans, and an expected new silly movie format. (Can't we just memory stick our movies instead of paying $20 for UMD porn?) Just because you have a bagillion ways to play the damn thing doesn't mean all their games will be winners. I just think Sony's gonna win in this market. FPSes and heavy 3D intensive games just won't really fly on a DS. If I want to play pixelated sidescrollers, I'll take a GBA. I don't see the DS as a huge advancement in technology. I give them much credit for going with the two screens and the blower/mic deal but graphics win out at the end of the day my friend.
"Rare does not make a good steak." ~a joke floating around the Nintendo offices

Well I wouldn't like it if someone asked why I gave my opinion on why I like certain companies. Nor would I ask about someone else's opinion.
Anyway, I'm glad this place has calmed down a bit. I was getting rather bored. LOL!
PS. Why has the forum's font changed? I prefered the old one.

It's the very essence of any community. Not everyone agrees or holds the same beliefs, so it's natural for people with differing opinions to question why somebody else feels differently. They have every right to ask the question, just as the person being asked has every right ot tell them to go screw themselves or just ignore them.

SPOnG has a near-unique skinning system which allows for a different look & feel across the whole site. Over the last couple of weeks the site was running a Project: Snowblind skin for the launch of the title, and everyone is automatically switched over to that skin (though you can change it if you hate it). Now that the game has launched, everyone is either returned to their former chosen skin, or a random skin is selected from for them.
Take a look at the "SPOnG Your Way" panel on the right to choose your prefered skin.

Other people don't mind, of course. Check out my brief exchange with Adam M about the Xbox. As the original poster didn't appear to be greatly offended by my question, I'm assuming I was okay to ask.

Do you live in a cave? How do you expect to go through life without anyone confronting you on your opinions/views?
[Fade In. Place of Work. Interior]
Boss: Marinky_Kongshi, we're constantly running out of disk space due to database backups and transaction logs - how can we resolve this?
Marinky_Kongshi: Well the backups are vital, and it's company policy to keep the transaction logs on, so maybe we could upgrade the hardrive size?
Colleague: What makes you think that's best? I think we should just archive off the backups to another server.
Marinky_Kongshi: ... ...
Sorry for the sarcasm, but you have to accept people questioning your opinions. If you believe your reasons are valid just elaborate on them, or, as config says, just tell them feck off.
1)Nintendo doesn't have anything that looks good other than the three franchises they sequel each year and even some of them you can argue their five star status (Mario Sunshine, Starfox Adventures, etc.)
Resident Evil 0, 4 et al. But these games are excellent.
Also if you want any sort of decent FPS on a console, you have to go X-Box. Also for your GOOD Sega games (JSRF and Panzer Dragoon Orta to name two). Same with Tecmo (DOAXBV and Ninja Gaiden, DOA is a piece of crap series). But that aside...
Good job I can't stand FPS (except Metroid Prime - and that's because it has a good control system, not because it's Nintendo).
2)This point goes back to point one about Nintendo not having alot of good games if any at all that come out whereas Playstation has hundreds each year with at least 15-20 five star games arguably.
Ummm. I don't understand. There are always quality games around on Gamecube.
I'm a Nintendo fan. That's because they create good games. I'm not a fanboy, though. I'll bash Nintendo just as much as Sony and Microsoft at times.
So your spending only a hundred dollars a year on games. You can't shell out $150 for the obviously too rich for your blood ultra gaming system that is PS2? And...
If I shell out money for a PS2, I then have to still buy the Gamecube games and the new PS2 titles. I just can't afford that.
I'll buy the best console of each generation. In this case, it's Gamecube. Last generation it was the Playstation.
I'm not tying myself to Nintendo. There are just more games on the Nintendo systems at the moment that appeal to me.
3)Gimmie something unique about DS that doesn't involve Warioware.
I can think of loads of things. That's because I'm a creative individual.
It being the only exception, the PSP looks better, has a better lineup coming, has lots of rabid fans, and an expected new silly movie format. (Can't we just memory stick our movies instead of paying $20 for UMD porn?)
Opinion.
Just because you have a bagillion ways to play the damn thing doesn't mean all their games will be winners.
Yes. Read previous posts by me. You'll find I think the current DS line-up is s**t. But I think the potential is much better than that of the PSP.
I just think Sony's gonna win in this market.
And when did I say I didn't believe that?
FPSes and heavy 3D intensive games just won't really fly on a DS.
I know.
If I want to play pixelated sidescrollers, I'll take a GBA. I don't see the DS as a huge advancement in technology. I give them much credit for going with the two screens and the blower/mic deal but graphics win out at the end of the day my friend.
Yes. I know. I know. And I agree. However, I can see huge potential of the DS to create new ways of playing games - just no-one's created any yet.
As much as I love Metroid, third and first person games are meant to be played with two joysticks, one controls the feet and the other the torso and hands. I didn't mind it, but it took a little getting used to. Also...
You may like Nintendo's games the best, but that doesn't change the fact that 2 or 3 only come each year. Mario and Zelda games don't last THAT long.
I've never been able to play 1st persons on consoles. The whole two stick thing just totally confuses me.
For people who didn't play console FPS initally and can't get on with the controls (there's a surprising number of us!) find Metroid a breath of fresh air. That's why Retro's game is so universally enjoyable.
With regards to the number of games. I'd say I manage to buy 5 - 10 Cube games every year. There always seems to be good Cube exclusives - I don't find just 2 - 3.
