Upon discovering the goods available on the japanese Capcom website I got thinking about the best game merchandsise. www.e-capcom.com

At E32004 everyone was in love with the Nintendo light pens, and Squaresoft have a range of jewelry that various characters where in their games. All this next to all the music cds, art books etc.

Just want to know what is the best item you have seen on sale or going free. Was it something at a E3 or elsewhere?

So far the Capcom stuff is a step above the Squaresoft stuff. Are there any other japanese softcos that do this type of thing, next to games? Let us know your thoughts, be you in or outside of the games industry.

I have some Zelda: The Wind Waker figurines (kubrick?) and they're quite neat. They go well with the Wind Waker soundtrack CD ;).

The predictably Japan-only Sega History capsule toys are absolutely fantastic. I've got a lovely miniature Master System with two miniature pads, a miniature cartridge and a miniature card.

Maddest goes to the ever-lovable Dreamcast tissue holder, which I would have to confess to owning if asked in court.

Domestically, it'd probably be either Sonic the Comic (which was ten times better than the arse that Archie Comics puts out using the name in the US), or the Pokemon trading cards that began to eat up my money when I was 12. For a really retro item, the Sega Superplay trading card set is very interesting (and last I checked, you could still order the whole thing off Panini's website).

I don't think Pokemon cards were out when I was 12.

I'd like some of those really cool mini-systems as well, especially the wonderful Super NES toy.

Best Game Mechandise I ever had was a Viewtiful Joe hat I got free with a copy of the game from DVD Box Office. It was class, with a high quality embroidered logo, but unfortunately it was slightly too small for my head. My 3 year old used to wear it, then it got left on a train at Baker Street. I was gutted, never been able to find another one.

The DoAXBV bikinis have go to be the most overpriced but interesting items.

Failing that, but sticking with the Tecmo perv, it's the DoA humping pillow.

The best stuff I puchased came with MGS Limited Edition on PS1, Konami are generous with their free merchandise. This also was followed by a sweet little art book and Castlevania game music soundtrack (from previous games) with PS1 Symphony of the Night. I then had to hunt down the SotN OST it was so good.

As for more best game stuff here's some of the SE's FF merchandise some of which you can buy in the u.k, europe and u.s, if not elsewhere online. I think the FFVII Cloudy Wolf gear might be Advent Children related. Have a good look.

I remember getting Outrun for my speccy, and it came with the arcade OST on tape (naturally).

I remember playing it in my bedroom; OST blasting away in tape deck, and me dreaming I was back at the arcades.

I really was a rather sad little boy.

I have that tape somewhere, it was given to me as part of a Commodore 64 collection. It made quite a lovely replacement for the music of the Master System version. Anyone know if the same deal actually applied to the C64 version of Outrun?

Didn't need it - C64 had great audio anyway! ;)

I remember the (awful) Outrun Europa have sampled audio and everything. Shame the game sucked.

Yeh it did, mate, exactly the same setup - one of those double-cassette boxes with one tape for the game and one with the original music on. Unfortunately you only got about a minute of each track.
