Ive played about 10 mins of Ridge Racers and its very impressive. As expected the graphics are the most impressive aspect of it but the console itself is very sleak indeed and the screen and resolution is top notch.
Im not a great fan of racing titles though and would have liked to see a different title running on it but it was a good first impression. No doubt ill pick one up from Asia when the stock is readily available and at a half decent price.
Yeah I know what you mean Racing games are only fun when playing multiplayer with friends. And yeah the price of the PSP at this point is prtty damn stupid because of sortages.. People are charging like double the price it should be for a product that in some cases are second hand... I think i will be purchasing mine off GBAX.com when I do... Either that or Amazon.
Damn you Rod!!!! I need a PSP, everyone seems to be getting one before me.
The Golf game look boring in my opinion. All Golf games do....
Loading times are one of the few things worrying me about the console though. :-(
Its like 30 seconds before you can start playing the game, and 15 seconds of going towards turning the spash screen on.
Though they do say as programmers become more experienced with the platform they will start making games that load faster. Apprentally this is what happened with the original playstation.

There were some on eBay recently for £290! I mean, it's not cheap, but it's not too bad.
We can't blag one until the UK release... so SPOnG has ordered one...

Ah, backwhen I was on Amiga Format, we used to do a bit of work, then a quick hole on PGA Tour.

I was at Team17 during the PlayStation launch, and I recall Sony having very strict rules on load times. The also had a rule that you could not have a blank/still screen at any time, their had to be a loading bar, or animation. LOADS of companies broke both rules.
For anyone interested, I've written an article on the new handhelds; PSP and DS over at Digital Vision. There's also some images of the two consoles in there :) click here
i hate you u only like psp cos u r gay u fukin mofo
That's why DS will win the battle; only "backseat drivers" are going to buy the PSP. Which in turn leaves the entire DS market open exclusively to the heterosexual demographic.
