AGE!!

I feel the same,I have lost enthusiasm for gaming, simply because I don't get that tingle of excitement any more, in fact the last time I felt that was as a late comer to the 360 scene and witnessing the first Gears trailer and realising it was a real time, still previous to that i think it was Mario 64 on N64 or maybe Soul Calibur on DC, previous to that I was young enough to just be excited by the Sonic and Marios. i find myself playing a quick game of Peggle or Angry Birds more and more often, I have little to no time to play any more, COD gets most of my attention on console, but its purely an on-line thing, i stopped upgrading my PC the day I bought a Laptop, I buy the consoles for the kids and I play mainly what they play with my influence on what they should buy..

I am looking forward to Arkham City and I will end up getting Modern Warfare 3 and Prolly Battlefield 3, but i see no reason to buy a new console for myself personally in the next wave...

sad really isnt it feels like an end of an era, i do miss the days of carts and i certainly miss RPG`s but damn i have no time..

I used to treat video games like a religion (thought about them non stop.. was my life etc) but now a days the most I can play a game for would be around 30 minutes before I lose interest... I just cannot concentrate while playing games like I used to but I also didn't have a lot on my mind years back like I do now..

I will say this though... Fallout New Vegas (and other games such as dragon age 2) made me a little bitter in terms of video games in general.. New Vegas though was the game that made me realise just how bad things are getting in terms of quality control as i started a new game 4 times and I have still yet to complete it due to bugs and glitches.
I think this only made things worse because as I have already stated that video games simply do not mean as much to me now as they used to and for them to cause me such aggro (putting over 100 hours into a playthrough only to realise that multiple quests have glitched is a nightmare) and since has created a paranoia in terms of something going wrong within the game.
No gamer should feel this way whilst playing a game they paid for and knowing that more than 6 months down the line after New Vegas was released.. they were (and still are) fixing it and this is becoming the norm it seems as gamers these days accept it without question..

Saying that though.. I find that the likes of xbox live arcade games have really came through for me in terms of quality but i fear this will eventually follow down the same path.. I just don't have the patience for it all any more and like Sean said in his above post that the magic is gone is also definitely true for me too as I tend to jump at the chance of getting remakes/ports instead of brand new games (ocarina of time 3d for example) simply because 1) I know they "work" and 2) the idea of recapturing those nostalgic moments which of course are weak in comparison to the original playthrough.

The very idea of Kinect is absolutely horrid to me... and being a massive Nintendo fan i cannot tell you enough just how much of a massive disappointment the Wii was for me.. and unless I am mistaken I could of sworn I read somewhere that Sony wants a "Kinect-like" PS4 so in my opinion the future in terms of video games seems to be all about being wowed by ideas that never actually turn out to be anything worth purchasing the system/peripheral's for.

Sorry for the long rant.. I rarely post anywhere on the net these days and your topic caught my eye as i'm in the same boat.. It is sad indeed but I do have 1 final game on my mind and that is Deus-Ex Human Revolution so I hope that it does not disappoint in terms of quality because if it does that will really hit home for me in terms of weather or not I even still wish to be a gamer..

novice here..:) been into gaming also when I was still in my college days but when I started working in a company, the habit simply fades away..don't know why actually..:) maybe because of my busy schedules.. Anyway while I was doing something yesterday I found this article: Family beats grandpa with bricks after Googling how to kill, it's a sad news actually..wish the old man would recover soon from that physical abuse he had gone through.
