Guitar Hero 2 – New Info

Kentia Hall – surprisingly, the place to be at E3.

Posted by Staff
Finally, there is a reason to venture down the stairs into the Kentia Hall. And it’s not to see the latest rubbish martial arts or snooker game peripherals. No, it’s to play Guitar Hero 2.

RedOctane has just announced a few more details on the game and - most importantly - on the line-up of ‘rawk’ classics, which include:

Drist - Arterial Black
The Reverend Horton Heat - Psychobilly Freakout
KISS - Strutter
Black Sabbath - War Pigs
The Butthole Surfers - Who Was in My Room Last Night
The Kinks (the Van Halen version) - You Really Got Me

And... Rush - YYZ

The main new feature in Guitar Hero 2, as well as a load of new songs to play, is the Multiplayer Co-op Mode where bandmates collaborate in order to beat songs, with each guitarist playing a separate guitar track. The second player can now choose a rhythm or bass guitar part to intermingle with the lead guitar riffs, working together to produce each song and, the press release assures us, thrill the audience to the point of “rock ecstasy”. Creating mass orgasmic responses amongst hordes of pretend women is one of SPOnG’s favourite hobbies.

SPOnG’s mate Dave, who is also a closet Rush fan, nearly wet himself in excitement when he heard the news that his old favourite band will be featured in the game. We still don’t quite get Rush, but we are loving the idea of being able to play War Pigs and You Really Got Me.

Which is what we will be doing next Thursday. We’ll also be gabbing with the RedOctane Prince of Darkness himself, Kelly Sumner, to find out more about the plans he has in store for the future of Guitar Hero and whether or not he has any more ideas for any music-based videogames that are more addictive than cocaine. SPOnG wants to see a decent Hip Hop generating game, so we’ll be sure to see if Mr Sumner can provide us with one. Any more questions you want fired his way, just let us know in the forums below.
