New ‘Tales Of’ epic, Tekken PSP, plus loads more.

Namco Bandai has just announced its first E3 line-up (since the merger) listing 19 console, PC and handheld releases for show.

Console and handheld titles include (in no particular order) Xenosaga EPISODE III: Also Sprach Zarathustra (PS2); Tales of the Abyss (PS2); Pac-Man World Rally (PS2/PSP/GC/PC); Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception (PSP); Tekken: Dark Resurrection (PSP); The Legend of Heroes II: Prophecy of the Moonlight Witch (PSP); and Mobile Ops: The One Year War (Xbox 360).

PC-wise, Namco Bandai will show Mage Knight Apocalypse, Warhammer: Mark of Chaos and Flagship Studios’ Hellgate: London.

Note that whilst there is only one ‘next gen’ title listed above (Mobile Ops on 360) SPOnG fully expects many more Namco Bandai next gen announcements at the show. Why? Because this is the E3 law.

There’s also a slew of film, cartoon and anime licenses due to be on show, including The Fast and The Furious (PS2/PSP); Snoopy vs. The Red Baron (PS2/PSP/PC); Charlie Brown's All-Stars (PS2/PSP); Naruto: Ultimate Ninja (PS2); Zatchbell!: Mamodo Fury (PS2/Cube); .hack//G.U. Vol.1: Rebirth (PS2); One Piece Grand Adventure (PS2/Cube); IGPX (PS2); and Eureka Seven Vol.1: The New Wave (PS2).

Genichi Ito, president and CEO of Namco Bandai Games America Inc., had the following to say on the impressive line-up: “This year’s E3 marks the debut of our integrated title line-up and exemplifies the industry strength behind the Namco Bandai merger…Our strong commitment to extending popular franchises, creating original content and developing strategic partnerships with key licensors allows us to deliver quality games for all ages, interests and platforms.”

SPOnG is sure that we have heard more or less this exact statement said before by around 1,000 other CEOs. Is there some sort of press release writing software that we are not aware of that generates these documents?

Whatever, it looks like it’s going to be a strong year for Namco Bandai. Whilst many of our peers will no doubt be getting all hot under the collar about the epic RPGs on show (a new ‘Tales Of’ is a fairly big deal) SPOnG must admit that it is more interested in Pac-Man World Rally, Tekken on PSP and Mobile Ops on 360.

We’ll be sure to bring you the latest on Namco Bandai’s next gen announcements from the show, as soon as our ears manage to hear about them.
