Ridge Racer 7 for PlayStation 3
As we reported yesterday it was looking likely that Namco was about to announce Ridge Racer 7 as a PlayStation 3 exclusive. And today it happened, by way of Famitsu, the magazine we stare at pictures of on the tube to look like we know Japanese.

According to Namco, development of RR7 began as soon as Ridge Racer 6 was complete. Here at SPOnG, we suspect this is a massive lie and Namco was always working on the Sony game while accepting bags of Microsoft treasure for the release of the Xbox 360 game, especially given the close relationship between the two Japanese firms.

The game will be shown behind closed doors at E3 in some form, though a major CG presentation has been confirmed for Sony's pre-E3 conference, accompanied by whooping and, we imagine, hollering, as is the tradition.

The game is slated for a November launch in Japan and is designed as a graphical window display for Sony's machine. As producer Hideo Teramoto puts it: “Everyone who sees Ridge Racer 7 should want a PS3,” pointing out that, as well as looking wonderful, the 14 player online option will be a major draw.

The trailer to be shown at E3 will be titled Ridge Racer Vision 2010 and will be amongst the biggest titles on show, a phrase leading us well into the realm of filler text as the Famitsu article managed to contain 1,000 words across two pages that are almost completely devoid of information. However, the game will have customisable features - features that are still a secret - and a new drifting mechanic, the intricacies of which are also secret.

Sit tight for a fortnight and all will be revealed.

It was the black devil car coming at us in the black of night with no headlights on. Ofcourse we could hear it, now we can see it.

MS must be a bit pissed about this but I guess they've still got the likes of PGR series and Burnout that will tide them over.

RR6 is a game that is convincing me I need a 360 but with this announcement I might hold my cash. RR7 looks hot and I love the series too.
