Square are utilising new facial expression technology and are recording expressions from real people to be used on characters in the game. For the first time ever in the series you will be able to tell what feelings characters are experiencing just from the look on their faces. This is an incredible development that adds to the realism of the title.
Traditionally, Final Fantasy games are broken up into three main different sections, the world map, exploration of cities and battle sequences. All that is going to change in Final Fantasy X, as for the first time battles will occur on the exploration screen. Enemies and bosses attack you in real-time while you and your party are exploring the virtual world.
Another sweet bit of information is that the main character Tidus will carry a transforming sword. His sword will be water based and will be able to morph into several different shapes with various attacks and properties. Square has also stated that the released images are not pre-rendered, but real-time in-game graphics.
There will be two different versions of Final Fantasy X. The only difference currently known is that one version will come on one DVD and the other version will come two. The storage capacity of DVD is more than adequate to accommodate the game, so what will come on the second DVD? We can only speculate that it will feature high-resolution artwork, trailers and behind the scenes info. Rumours suggest that the sceond DVD will be a super high-resolution version of Final Fantasy X that will be compatable with HDTV but this is currently unconfirmed. The special 2 DVD version sounds like it is ideal for collectors who cannot get enough of this addictive, compelling series.
