Fight Night Round 3 - new videos

New punches and gameplay features

Check out the five trailers right here on SPOnG for EA’s forthcoming Fight Night Round 3. For a fairly realistic representation of what it must feel like to be twatted very hard in the face check firstly the ‘Gatti Ring Entrance’ trailer.

Now whilst SPOnG can’t abide violence and would usually allow our lily-livered liberal sensibilities to be all offended and hurt by the mere idea of two men in a ring fighting like beasts, there is really only one response to this trailer. Awesome!

We now cannot wait to play the final version of Fight Night Round 3. Not least because it gives us the opportunity to have fights with our girlfriend and settle our differences in the ring – man to woman. Without of course either of us inflicting any real, physical violence on the other person – which would be wrong.

Once you’ve checked out that first trailer, have another look at the other four shorter trailers – each one of which gives you a mini-tutorial letting you know how you can make use of one of the three new impact punches – the haymaker, the stun punch and the flash KO. Each one looks both easy to execute and capable of destroying your opponent’s pretty boy grin in one go.

Alongside the new impact punches, some of the game’s other knockout features include the ‘Super Punch’ where you’ll either see or feel the impact of a devastating punch as the boxer's face ripples from the blow, ‘Raging Bull’ stylee.

There’s also much more reliance in the gameplay on the character's facial expressions and body language, which allow players to gauge an opponent's health and energy levels. Which, according to the press release, “can only serve to create a more emotionally immersive experience”. SPOnG is not sure if ‘emotionally immersive’ is quite the correct terminology!

You will also see from the last tutorial video we’ve flagged here, that players get the option of creating a fighter style of their own. You can also watch ESPN Classic footage of real-life bouts or re-create the greatest fights from past and present and see how some of the greats of modern boxing compare with your own fighter style.

The game’s online option should also prove to be a winner, once you get bored of being repeatedly beating up by your girlfriend (virtually, of course).

Oh, and there’s the obligatory hip-hop soundtrack. If massive flapping kecks and dope beats floats your boat, you can Check that out jus’ here.
