Good news for those who like videogames but can’t bear the shame of buying art pamphlets at the local garage, even if it is from the drunken Slovakian nightshift-er. Tecmo will be releasing a sequel to the masturbatory feast (and quite good videogame) that is Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball.
Famed series lead and Team Ninja head Tomonobu Itagaki disclosed the information to various Japanese publications over the weekend, explaining that preliminary work had commenced. We assume this involves the team sitting around watching women jump up and down in mo-cap booths. Well, we hope that’s the case.
The prospect of DOAXVB2 residing on the 360 is something that has flickered through our thoughts, usually late at night with the curtains drawn, for some time. Perhaps it’s worth noting, as we run out of anything interesting to say and our joke wank bank runs dry(!) that the beat ‘em up spin-off does fall into a well-established genre in Japan – that of positioning and then looking at beautiful digital women.
The titles are usually PC, though a few forays across the PlayStation consoles have surfaced over time. What makes DOAXBV different is the fact that it’s backed by a major publisher, from a globally-respected developer and will be pushed (or pulled, heh) hard in the west.
We will bring you without fail the first screenshots of Dead or Alive: Xtreme Beach Volleyball for the Xbox 360 within minutes of their release. Of course, this does leave the all-important issue of what Tecmo will do at this year’s E3 now bikinis are outlawed…
