Speaking to attendees at a beer drinking competition today, rotund Nintendo UK chief David Yarnton made the impressive announcement which confirms the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi service a roaring global success.
Although specific breakdown of users per region was not offered, Yarnton stated that a staggering 50% of all US-based DS users had logged onto the Wi-Fi network during launch week, underlining the appeal of online Nintendo gaming so often refuted by the firm.
Although only two games are propping up the global network right now – Mario Kart DS and Animal Crossing Wild World - both have seen massive uptake and soaring popularity and in spite of teething problems associated with account management and basic implementation, right now there really isn't a dissenting voice to be heard.
And of course, everyone currently hosting their own DS network at home via the brilliant Wi-Fi dongle will be able to hook in Revolution hardware, widely expected to launch this summer in Japan, with the rest of the world to follow before Q3 expires.
