Ubisoft and those good folk at Red Storm have just announced a fully playable downloadable PC demo of their forthcoming Tom Clancy title, Rainbow Six: Lockdown, which finally makes its way onto PC this February.
RSL, the latest in Ubi’s mega successful counter-terrorism franchise, is being sold as an improvement upon the console versions of the game, which came out last year. SPOnG is told that the game has been completely overhauled, and that visually there are numerous improvements that have been made.
Rainbow Six: Lockdown, for those who’ve not played the console version, once again puts players in the shoes of Domingo Chavez as he attempts to stop an extremely unfriendly bioengineered virus being unleashed on an unsuspecting populace. Just another days work at the coalface of the War on Terror!
SPOnG has just received our own preview build of RSL, so we’ll be sure to check this out and report back.
In the meantime check out the demo for yourself, which is available on the
game’s official site. The demo includes a single player mission (South Africa) and a multi-player map (Prison). The single player mission provides a ‘campaign mission’ on two different difficulty modes, normal or challenge, as well as in co-operative play. The multi-player map can be played in ‘Team Adversarial’ game mode. There are 17 weapons available in the demo (42 will be available in the full version), and all the equipment and grenades are available for both single and multi-player maps – while the custom character creation and usage is available in multi-player.
