It’s time to sleep with the lights on! Classic super-scary movie, Evil Dead is making its way onto a console near you soon.

Not for the first time though, because the film gave rise to a license on the 8-bit machines way back in 1984! This time round, rather than a lame platformer, the game takes the form of a real-time 3D adventure from THQ. Evil Dead: Hail to King will be available on PC, Dreamcast and PlayStation in early 2001. In the game you will be able assume the role of Ash, the hero of the Evil Dead trilogy. In fact, Bruce Campbell the star of the films is providing the voice-over for Ash.

The game environments are being based on actual scenes from the film to increase the realism of the conversion. Weapons that were used in film are being modelled for the game and will be fully upgradeable for maximum damage. Family favourites such as the shotgun and chainsaw will help dispense the evil un-dead enemies with style.

The game is going to be a considered blend of puzzle solving, exploration and action sequences. Using advanced 24-bit graphics and a blend of pre-rendered and real-time graphics, Evil Dead is looking stunning. Check out these new screenshots.
