BT Openzone WiFi hotspots still not supporting DS

Reports are emerging suggesting that, despite repeated assurances from British Telecom to the contrary, BT’s Openzone wi-fi Internet hotspots are still not supporting Nintendo’s DS handheld – with BT citing 'unforseen technical issues' as being responsible for the continuing problems.

It seems whereas BT like to regularly remind us how its ‘good to talk’, this pithy maxim does not stretch to their PR company wanting to talk to SPOnG about these continuing problems. We await their call with baited breath.

A Nintendo spokesperson told SPOnG this afternoon that that only "a small number of BT OpenZone hotspots are still not live with the Nintendo Wi-Fi Connection service. We are working with BT as fast as we can to rectify the situation and restore the service to every BT Openzone hotspot in the UK."

BT's reps were not available for comment at the time of going to press, but rest assured we will continue to attempt to get some answers from British Telecom, to clarify what the exact situation is, how many OpenZone hotspots are not yet fully operational and exactly where they are.
