Chinese cooking simulator revealed!

First Confirmed Revolution Software in Existence
So the first Nintendo Revolution software to be revealed as being playable over in Kyoto turns out to be the Chinese wok simulator as seen in the Revolution tech demo at this year’s Tokyo Game Show.

In a great interview with Games Life, Nintendo producer Hideki Konno mentions that the wok sim has set the offices alight.

“We're thinking of so many different things. We're still at the stage where we're trying so many different things. We're doing things with big, expansive movements and smaller, more concise movements. It's hard to narrow it down to one over the other. Did you see the Tokyo Game Show video? We actually have things using the movements you saw. Like the cooking game. We have this game with a big wok that you use to cook Chinese food, and it's really interesting to have the meat and vegetables frying in there, and use the controller to flip the food around without it spilling out of the pan.”

Of course, this got us wondering – are all the other tech demos seen from the TV’s perspective real, existing software? The wok simulator, that we’ll refer to from here on in as Wok: Chinese Food Master Gaiden III, was twinned with a slicing game. We wonder if that’s on the go in Nintendo’s offices too…

Oh Revolution, so many questions, so few answers. For now…

This is Nintendo, Nintendo likes tech demo's for trying out new stuff, they don't even show all their techdemo's (to the public, third parties is another matter).
The guy isn't talking about a full-fledged cooking game but about a tech-demo Nintendo has...well, cooking up to see what you can do with the controller and the hardware.

IT'S NOT A GAME! IT'S A BLOODY TECHDEMO! jeezs, stop ripping stuff out of their context.

seeing as the DS is currenty home to:
Poke the musical fish the game
Surgen Simulator
and Lawyer Simulaor
i woudl not be the least bit suprised if this turns into a real game. Especially considerign the japanese fasination wooth food and cooking... this is the country that invented iron chef after all... which woudl make a fantastic tie in for this game... if the chairman commands, i will obey.

While i agree that this is taken a little out of context of the article, nowhere does spong refer to this as an actual, or potential game. It simply calls it first confirmed Rev software.

This in itself is a little odd since the night of the unveiling ign posted a story with their impressions of rev software that they had gotten advanced chance to play. So i would say that this is not exactly the first piece of confirmed rev software.

I will also add that I would be willing to be that this will show up in some way in some game of some sort. Whether it is in the form of an iron chef sim type of game, or in a wario ware style game where this is simply a mini game, who knows, but it stands very good chance of being publically tangable.

Surely it's cheaper and just as fun to buy a frying pan and some vegetables?

Only kidding - I'm not too worried; I trust Nintendo to release it as a substantial game if it ever is released... or make it a budget thing.

It would be nice to see a Warioware with this kind of thing, in my opinion.

Well I can see this becoming a game, no one else is doing it that we know of so why the hell not? I'm a little tired of shooting things, give me something new, fun and interesting.

Who knows, it might teach some microwave eating muppets to actually attempt proper cooking for once and get it right. We'll see.

Fingers crossed it gets made.
