Ominously missing from the paperwork sent out by Nintendo is Legend of Zelda, now expected to ship for free alongside the Revolution to act as both a sales incentive for the new system and a flagship backwards compatible title.

i have incredibly mixed feelings about that. is it really worth pissing of the current GC owners in order to draw in them to the next gen... i for one woud be skeptical of buying a new nintendo right after beeing so bady screwed on the last one... if i where not a nut who intends ot buy all three anyway. but the prospect of highdef output of this fantastic game (i know they dotn support but upscalign on a better system shoud be a given i think) is rather exciting, and since im buyign one anyone, it doesnt really phase me.

Personally i think nintendo should concentrate all their efforts on the revolution now. They should get a good launch line up ready to really lift the system.
Twilight Princess looks great but i would rather it come out on the Revolution.

i think the game is way to far alogn to make it a worth whiel addition to the revo. first off it woudlnt be grpahically representative of the systems capabilities witht he lieks of mario 128 probably seriously out shining it. and secondly it woudl most likely not take full advantage (if at all) of the revo's controller. give the 20 million customers you already have soemthign to get excited about, say here.... this is a freaking nintendo game... this is what we do... we make fantastic games... then show them the next gen stuff and they will eat it up... but whats the last GC memory most peopel have right now? RE4? that wasnt even their game and its sequel hasnt even been anounced for revo. It's a s**te idea. and releasing a super fantastic game and hoping peopel will buy a new system to play it when it runs on their current system is the most bass akward thing i have ever heard of... people want a killer app not a killer system for an app to run on.

the more i think about it the more i really hate this idea.

Oh yeah, 2006 is gonna be a good new year for Nintendo owners. All those lovely DS games on the way (some of which I'm already enjoying like Trauma Center...hurrah!) there's enough to keep us occupied til the Rev turns up in June.

I don't think Zelda being launched with Rev would be such a bad thing especially if we all got a copy for free. Nintendo haven't given away a game for free with a console launch since the SNES or GB. We've had to buy games at launch for so long now, I'd welcome a free game, but I'm sure Nintendo would also launch Z:TP seperately so GC gamers can get their fix. This might be more likely if MS bundle Halo with 360 eventually for free. Time will tell.

Either way like you Lupos, Z:TP will end up in my collection regardless of via GC or Rev. Mario Party 7, Viewtiful Joe, Harvest Moon, Odama and Namco 50th A.M look good for GC too.

Can't wait for January, more Resident Evil and a dose of Bleach are on my DS import list (and I'm glad I can now do so without persecution from Nintendo). There's a lot of good games we are still missing though, no sign of Electroplankton or RTS Shogun Warriors.

On the GBA front FF IV was always on the cards, but the nice surprises are Top Spin and Tales of Phantasia (a game the GBA should have had ages ago). I hope we'll see some more Tales series on GBA (perhaps the Summon Night series too, are you listening Banpresto?). GBA needs all the good games it can get.

I don't agree Lupos. Zelda would sell fine if it ends up on Rev or GC, the fact it will run on both leaves space for people to decide to upgrade to a Rev or if they don't want a Rev (and a potential free Zelda copy) they can buy the solo game and enjoy while not upgrading.
Now from a gamers view point it obviously make more sense to upgrade and have access to all Nintendo's games catalogue as well as new Rev games.

Don't forget when Z:TP is due we might not see a dedicate Rev Zelda for ages yet and Zelda is a popular series (have you forgotten those screaming E3 fans already?) that will shift copies. Gamers of many ages can also enjoy it. Many will also continue to play GC games on Rev while waiting for Rev games.

Also don't forget Nintendo aren't playing the silly spec game any more, the system will speak for itself. And if Sony can push Shadow of the Colossus with PS3 on the horizon, Nintendo have to push Zelda in the same way or lose out.

i was all set to dissagree with you then i double checked. i was thinkign it was goign to be held of until the revo launch and then released along side of it, not as a pack-in. pack-in is a much better idea. good way of boosting sales of a new system... cause if people where going to pay 50 for a game then that means the system is only like 150 instead of 200 (or whatvere it comes out at).

mia culpa!
