Iwata: Mario for Revolution launch
Satoru Iwata has confirmed for the first time that current Nintendo planning slates the firm’s new Mario game for Revolution launch, it emerged today.

During an interview with hit and miss US games channel G4, conducted at this year’s Tokyo Game Show, Iwata said, “I personally am pushing very strongly on Mr. Miyamoto to make Mario one of the launch titles for the Revolution. I hope that everyone [at Nintendo] is going to support it.”

Iwata also went on to discuss the Revolution’s controller. “What Nintendo really wants to do is expand the gaming population,” he said. “So how can we do this? I think the biggest concern that a non-gamer might have about holding a controller, is that the controller needs to be held with both hands and both thumbs need to move and react very quickly. This is very intimidating to them so we wanted to make the Revolution controller something you can hold in one hand, as if you were holding a remote control for you TV.”

The full interview airs on G4 on Tuesday, September 27 at 10pm ET / 7pm PT

I'm dying to see what use they get out of this controller. I don't expect it to be like the stuff on the trailer. Nintendo tend to do soft, subtle, slow control rather than waving something about like a lunatic.

hmmm? the boss battles of mario 64? OK I take some of that back.

They need to release Mario at launch. I think the Gamecube would have done much better if Sunshine was a their flagship title instead of Luigi's Mansion.

Also, rofl at "hit or miss US channel." They mean it sucks, that channel in itself is an insult to gamer's intelligence, TechTV used to be great until G4 capped it.

Some of their pieces are great I think. Some is so bad it's painful though.

I would be glad to see Mario available from Rev launch, I hope we get some Pilotwings too. I also hope the third parties back the Rev more now they know what's possible. Stick an RPG in there too.

Yeah, I heard about Tech TV turning into the cheesy G4 thing. What a shame.

Saying that gaming shows aren't that much better over here in the u.k anymore apart from the shows on Bravo.

Does anyone seem the least bit excited about the fact that we won't have to buy lightguns for shooters anymore? Or the fact that Resident Evil is going to rock so much now? Or that we're gonna improve our bi's and tri's by swiping flora in Zelda? Or about the third party bootleg porn???!!! ANYONE!!!??? Where's all the neat ideas for our perfect versions of Nintendo games? We all got good ideas. What are we expecting/wanting out of Mario, Zelda, Metroid, Excitebike, Kid Icarus (it's coming, I know it), Donkey Kong, Mario Kart, Mario Party(!!!), Pokémon, F-Zero, Smash Bros., Mario Golf, Mario Tennis, Mario Baseball, etc.???
