Well, wheat actually. Not grass, but hey, anything that grows out of the ground in a grass-like manner and is able to illustrate just how good a videogame can look, by blowing in the wind and so on, is fine by us.
Just take a look at these new Wanda and the Colossus/Shadow of the Colossus screens released overnight by Sony Computer Entertainment Japan. They are again some of the most spectacular static images of any game we’ve ever seen. And we’ve seen quite a lot of games…
SOTC did disappoint some pundits when an early version went on show at E3 in May of this year. The reason you didn’t hear too many people complaining about its choppy frame rate and lack of detail was, we think, that people are scared to say anything negative about the game. Though it’s worth bearing in mind that the version was, from memory, only 50% complete, so it becomes more than possible to have utmost faith in what the ICO team will eventually deliver.
