Game Boy Micro Dated – Launch Games Announced
Nintendo Japan has announced that it will begin selling its Game Boy Micro on September 13 this year, with the unit shipping with several fascias and a selection of commemorative software.

Shipping a cheeky two days before Sony’s white PSP, the unit will ship alongside 20th Anniversary Super Mario Bros, Mario Tennis Advance and a Dr Mario and Puzzle de Pon R double pack.

Pricing is yet to be announced, though SPOnG can exclusively reveal that the Micro will be the 'cheapest to produce' Game Boy of all time for Nintendo, though the hardware is expected to nestle comfortably between the prices of the SP and DS.

We’ll bring you US and European news in the coming days.

If it doesn't come with Play Yan and it costs more than an SP its a ripoff.

Actually, my take is that the Play Yan won't be in a bundle with the unit in Japan. Those games mentioned are apparently parts of three different bundles.

Although, a Play Yan bundle may come out shortly after the initial Japanese launch. Especially considering the Micro's launch is right next to the release of the White PSP. Personally, the bundles are sweet. I mean, a Game Boy Micro with an additional faceplate and Mario Tennis Advance bundled in? If the price is about $100USD, that's pretty nice. Considering games are like $35USD. That means, you would be paying about $65USD for the Micro itsself.

Didn't Nintendo of Spain say they wanted to do a Play Yan bundle for the European launch? That's hot.

The article, and numerous Nintendo staff, have said the GB Micro will be priced hardware-only between the DS and GBA SP.

In the UK, this price is £85 or 147.962 USD just for the hardware.

More information can be found on www.gi.biz who interviewed one of the head guys at Nintendo Europe.

I highly doubt the unit will be anywhere close to $150 for just the unit in the US, or Europe.

Also, GamesIndustry.biz isn't exactly.. reliable... I mean, sure it's part of Eurogamer... *laughs* Oh, wait... that makes it worse...

Yeah, but they were interviewing someone from Nintendo Europe - and all the stuff regarding the GB Micro was direct quotes. Plus, SPOnG have it in their above article.

I think it will sit at £85. It's supposed to be designer, like an iPod to command a higher price and cream more profits. They don't want it to look as cheap as the SP, but don't want it to rival the DS.

A mid-range price point would be over-priced but perfect!

I think that it's a very premium design, very sleek design. I'd like to see the price between SP and DS

Hmm.. Oh, yeah. Conversion rates... *checks European Prices*

Well, a GBA SP is about 69.99Pounds.. so.. that makes a GBA SP about $120USD right now and a Nintendo DS is 99.99Pounds or $170USD. It also looks like the PSP is 199.99Pounds or $350USD. Damn. That.. that... sucks. I guess it will be close to $150USD in Europe. That's really messed up that Europe has to pay so much for it... maybe Nintendo will drop the SP price and launch the unit at the current SP price.

I think the unit will be about $100 to $110 in the US. Actually, I could probably bet money on the price being about $99.99USD in the USA. Considering, the SP is $79.99USD in the USA and the original Game Boy Advance is $29.99USD.

Wow! That's cheap! You guys are *very* lucky ;).

Considering US prices, you may well be right.

The reaction from people I know has been very negative to the system, mainly because of the tiny screen. They may well need to lower the price to shift units in Europe.

I think a lot of people are going to have to play the Game Boy Micro to appreciate how it good it really is. Especially the screen: which is larger than many cell phone screens, and sharper than the DS screens.

Agreed. The Micro is a really lovely piece of kit. Shame it didn't feature wireless/PlayYan stuff though...
