Resident Evil 5: Direct Feed 1280x Resolution Screens!

They're big, bad and oh so beautiful…

Posted by Staff
As you may well have heard, Capcom has recently showed the first snippet of footage from Resident Evil 5 (or Biohazard 5 if you’re a pretentious importer).

And here are three huge beautiful direct feed screengrabs of the game in action for your viewing pleasure. We are hoping for the extended teaser movie from the game, currently slated for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, at some point during this week.

So keep an eye out, and as ever, let us know what you think in the forum below.

It looks really nice, but not as gritty and scary as Resident Evil 4 (if I can make that assumption from the screenshots).

Plus, no sign of the traditional Resi characters and no mention of the already ill-fated Revolution.

The trailer is really good. The scene with the shadows running is creepy as hell, and harks back to RE4's villagers, especially with the number and the speed in which they chase down what looks to be Chris Redfield.

Already on my wanted list....what to buy though, and xbox360 or a PS3?

Yeah, RE4 with higher polygon numbers, hello plastic look!

This industry is screwed...

It is if that's all you can see. They have just graphically either caught up with or surpassed the Final Fantasy movie. That first shot has caught up for sure, and the last shot looks like it's surpassed it. How can you say it looks plastic and praise old resident evil? How can you say it's just higher polys, when there is clearly better lighting, textures et al there? Are you blind?

No, i'm practical thinking. You see those difference because you look at the picture for like 5 minutes and then the difference comes up.
But that means squat when your actually playing the game.
Take Doom3, i play it at Medium settings on 800*600 res, my freind plays it on ultra-high with 1200*800 res, he does not see the difference between my quality and his, and neither do i because we're freaking playing the game!!

Technically it probably suprasses RE4 tenfold but if you can't see that in-game, it's a waste of time. RE4 had a lot better art direction, lots and lots better and that shows.
And thats going to be a keyword next generation: art direction. If your game has better artstyle then a 5 times more technical complicated game it will look better while playing.
RE5 shows that perfectly, the main character has that Doom3 plastic look (look at his hair!!) while leon in RE4 had that a lot less, more care taken in the style.
