Being a Sega fan is rubbish in so many ways. You find yourself constantly teased with the possibility of stunning glory time and time again. You end up trying to play the remake of Altered Beast.
Though perhaps the best example of Sega torture of late is the saga surrounding Shenmue, Yu Suzuki’s epic and genre-breaking RPG that is still awaiting a final concluding chapter. The series, debuting on Dreamcast and single-handedly stamping out any belief that Sony would stand head to head with Sega’s software offering, has long been rumoured to be cancelled outright/still in the works, depending on what you read. And no, before you ask, Shenmue Online doesn’t count.
A fresh wave of hope and pain has arisen in the past 24 hours, with Shenmue 3 being touted for Xbox 360. According to the rumour mill, Microsoft will announce the game at some point in July. You will be able to read what details we glean about said announcement here.
